I want to use mono backing for 30lb braid, what knot works best to attach the braid to mono?

Gracias.

Albright knot with a dab of zap. Make sure you put enough braid on or you'll wind up like I did...:behead:

I use a uni to uni and never had a problem. even jigging tuna, deepwater Cod jigging, and deepwater wreck fishing. And its easy to tie.

I"m a big fan of the blood knot, only because I find it very easy to tie and it hasn't failed me yet.

Both the Albright and the Uni to Uni are pretty damn strong if tied right. If you want something lower profile you could try a Slim Beauty, it's a bit tougher to tie but it's small and strong.

Super easy to tie.

Be sure to- use 5-6 wraps in each Uni, wet them, snug each one completely before pulling them together.

If it looks bad it's no good. Should be nice and neat and even looking.

Good luck,

W

If the braid and mono are about the same diameter , use a blood knot. If they are different diameter , use an albright or uni to uni.

i used to use uni-uni but switched to albright. it is much easier and i seem to get it ;right' all the time, where uni-uni was prone to me screwing up.

Back to back uni. One piece of advise is to make sure the knots is at the top of your spinning reel spool. If you loose chunks of line or have a fish take alot of line the braid will start to hit the knot as it goes out. To minimize this place that knot at the top of the spool.

Here's a big vote for the Slim Beauty!!! :btu:

Its really no harder to tie than a Uni or Albright if you are using heavy mono and start with a double overhand knot in the mono and tighten it until it "figure 8s":

I have seen a few ways to tie it - the link above is the best and easiest and shows the double-up braid that I think makes a big difference.

The only time I'm attaching braid to mono is the backing on a reel. I use mono that's about the same diam. and use a blood knot.
