Next week is my last week where I am working currently....today I landed a Contract to perm position......starting tomorrow. Environment is almost a duplicate of what I'm leaving but with the addition of them actually spending the money to be up to date, so I can upgrade some of my skill set in the process. Timing worked out well....just gotta clean up my stuff and say my goodbye's today.

Thanx for letting me vent here guys....

Congrats on the new position. My position was elliminated after 21 years and I now have the gift of going back to school. Hope I chose the right path, it's a little scary after so long but seeing as I had no choice in the matter I think I'll just take it as it comes and enjoy a little free time in the process.

Congrats. Hope the new gig is much better than the old one. At least there's a good chance the person you'll be working for will be better than your last boss.

Good news Kevin (though nothing wrong with a couple weeks off to clear the head)

Sucks to be the old employer as they loose a week of knowledge s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g time. But they started it:rumble:

True....but the mrs. said that if I landed a job before my time is up here I can use some of my severance for a Truck cap and Rod Rack.....sooooooo

Excellent!!! So you going to be able to spend sometime with Linux?
There are more jobs than skilled resources, in MA. As you have found out you don't have to take this outsourcing stuff
We should still linkedin.

Definitely not giving up on the Linux...going to pick up some parts, build a PC, and load it up and play.

don't want to get bit in the ass again.....need to learn it....want to screw around with some VMware also....seem to be the hot topics right now.

Whats linkedin?

Linkedin is a business-oriented social networking site mainly used for professional networking. It's kinda like the my space or facebook for professional/job networking. It's free to join and they have some good features and professional groups that you can join within the site. It's worth the 10 minutes to create a profile. Add me to your network when you do TDF.

We had major reshuffling in my present job... in Waltham.
I only found out for sure that I still had a job with them a couple weeks ago.
I am getting real tired of working for big business.
but it's what I have been doing for over 15 yrs now.

livin in Scit, commutin to Wtm, sux. (40mi x2)
but its better than the last one - Andover (60mi x2)
why cant I find a good UNIX job in Braintree or Weymouth???
