And now I've got a raging skin infection on my leg. Looked like it might be getting better and then yesterday the tide turned.

Sucked to come home from 4 days in Canada to spend the evening with doctors discussing how many anti-biotics they needed to put in the IV

In the end they opted for a round of orals first. I kept telling my self that this was cool, instead of a bite in the upper thigh it could have been my :cens:

I guess it's a bad year for spiders.

Guy at work had a nasty one on his fore arm last year. Best of luck with the anit-biotics. Get us some pics if it gets disturbing.

Well, I should have taken a pic last night as it appears the anti-biotics are starting to do their thing.

Last night it was ugly, looked like I was hit in the thigh by a 100mph softball. The bad part was 5-6" round and spreading.

I think I hit the hospital just in time.

You're lucky. Some guy's at the other place were posting pictures of Spider bites they've had and it was pretty much horrifying. I had no idea how much tissue damage a spider bite can cause.

Seeing that spider venom (all spider venom) is designed to dissolve the internal organs of their prey, it will do the same for "accidental" prey as well. It's a little like flesh eating bacteria, but equally as dangerous.

i got bitten too..... I'm SERIOUS (it totally and royally sucks)

and now i don't even need a fishing rod or reel or line or a hook

i just point my finger at a rising bass and capture him in a spidey web and yank him to shore. :tooth:

sorta took all the fun out of fishing.... though. :hs:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No really, in ALL SERIOUSNESS !!!

i know it sounds funny -> but SPIDER Bites are some
serious SH1T and then some.
it makes wasp stings seem like child's play in comparison. Ticks.... don't tickle me.... :spidey:

first the bite area ...........
-it was the size of a quarter, all red and achy as hell !!

i woke up the next day with a serious case of sciatica
which is where you sciatic nerve hurts like a bastage
from your hip down to your ankle.... all numb and tingling

then it kept on expanding until it was the size of a tennis ball
seemingly doubling in size ... every other friggan day... :yikes:

it's been two weeks and "finally the tide has turned" (thank god)

i've been taking 2000 milligrams of vitamin C twice
a day....because my Doctor won't prescribe antibiotics
anymore......... unless your about to friggan DIE....

AND any i had on hand......... were all destroyed
in the house fire.... son of a BEOTCH

Today, i just plugged in a flowtron device
that repels all insects and rodents too

http://www.pest-control-supplies.com/bugfighter.htm

made in the USA in Malden Mass.

New York and Connecticut residents will have to have a Rhody
or Mass buddy order them one because of their dumb laws!

i'm taking the fight to them... because
it's a VERY nasty experience !!

Did you see the spider? Hopefully it wasn't a recluse. Their bite can cause a nasty condition (necrosis). Antibiotics are the way to go. Keep an eye on the bite area. If it starts growing use a pen and mark the outline. If it gets worse go back to the doc pronto.

My spider was a whimp, it was the infection that got me...but the anti-biotics have all but wiped it out...thank goodness.

========================================

the area is showing signs of Rapid healing :kewl:
(Spence's warning made me have it checked anyway)
just to be on the safe side...

the doctor is correct in not prescribing antibiotics

the theory there is to not allow BUGS to form an immunity to them!

unless there is an infection that requires them~ which there is not...

i am in control of my immune system like an off world scientist

and I study how to boost my immune system every single day

I'm in the camp that you should use anti-biotics only when necessary...the super bugs are just waiting to know your weakness.

In my case it was an easy decision, soon the infection would have spread to my muscle and blood where I would have been seriously f'ed up.

You must have been bit by a more serious spider, but lacked the infection...

but he couldn't use it

because he grows and sells chinchilla's

i stopped over to see how it was working out
for him

because i am dealing with several species of mice
and chipmunks too

the fact that this device also sends bugs packing
was an added benefit...

does it work? to soon to tell

but i'll keep you all posted...

A guy in my Basic Training unit got bit by a brown recluse and his leg swelled up so badly that it looked like a softball was underneath his skin.

Those recluse spiders are no joke, check out this recluse bite:

Nasty hu?:yak6:

Spence, I am glad you are on the mend!:claps:

Same thing happened to me last year. Ended spending three days in the hospital over it.
