was wondering fished the canal again tonight the birds were working the water right in front of me in the middle of canal and no matter what i did i would not reach them i want to know is there away to get out there inexspensive!!! what kind of rod set up should i have rod length,line ,reel, jig weight, ect!!! the weather was beautiful till i got there it turned into a monsoon wind rain birds were all over diving on the outgoing tide!!!:af:

What do you consider inexpensive?

I have seen Slip & JP get some good distance on the 1209 spinning rod blanks and they are reasonably priced by comparison to an Arra. They use Nautil reels but you may be able to get the same distance with a penn. Then again, you could spend the 15.00-20.00 on Ron Arra's book and maybe get the distance with your current setup.
