Hello fellow Americans, striperfishermen & striperfisherwomen:

In response to the "CANCELED" FLW tournament, I thought it would be nice to have an impromptu tournament to support our veterans, especially those that are injured.

I ran this question passed, John R.
His comments, "Chuck - I think we can / should do this but I think we should figure it out first. Regardless of the fact that it is good to do, the fishing community can't handle "make up the rules as we go along" and the honor system at the same time without a little prior planning

I'm on the road much of today but get a question / answer session going on the main board and lets see what we can come up with. I don't know exactly what I have but I can come up with some boat stuff/tackle as a prize..."
If we can have some help from the SB community outlining the "RULES", so that they are clear and fair.
I was thinking of a $10.00 entry fee donation, maybe $25.00 for a family- all $ going to

"Through activities such as hunting, fishing, archery, hiking, and camping, wounded warriors continue their rehabilitation in the great outdoors. WWP Outdoors helps participants build life-long skills they can enjoy in their home communities.
For me, it puts the emphasis on continuing to help these Veterans as they volunteered to serve and protect our freedoms.

The 1st Annual Striped-Bass.com Veterans Tournament-
Thank you for our Freedom.

Since we need rules, let's make them easy, $10 bucks to enter, we will get 3 good donations for 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes for men, women & juniors(under 16)
Donate all the proceeds to the wounded warriors outdoor project
To win, honor system, you need a picture(with measuring tape), if you release or weight and picture? We can make up the rules as we go along, because it is to support our veterans

I will start with the first donation, an Echo Classic Flyrod 4 PC 9WT- I know BillyBlanks is in, I am in
I am going fishing right now, starts and ends.????...maybe start this weekend?

1st you need to decide whether you want a Keep or Catch/Release tourney format...can't really do both with such short notice. And don't forget Surf or Boat...or both its up to you.

"Catch and release" would probably require a witness signed slip/or Picture with tape and "Keep" you could use a weigh-in slip from any B&T.

You need to pick a start time and an end time, and also a means of getting your catch info to the person running the tourney, probably a cell phone (that way you can announce the winners at tourney's end). Then you would just need to send in said picture or slip to claim your prize afterwards.

the simplest way IMHO is a Keep tourney...shore and boat included....Friday 8pm - Sunday 12pm call them in to you by Sunday 1pm and then get a pic or mail weigh in slip to you to collect there prize.

but this is just a suggestion

rjinhull just fished a turney that started at 5:00 am and ended at 5:00 pm. One fish per person turned in. No weight, just tape measure. Honor system start. $25 per person $100 max per boat. His boating partners 41 incher got $300 for first place. A pre arranged phone picture with an "id date time" mark showing fish along side tape measure could be used for C&R entrees.

Thanks TDF & BW, do you think a measure is "OK" for this, that way you can do C&R and Keep as well?
Let me know what you think?

Thank you AH, that is a fine offer.
I like the idea of length/girth..... for some of the slabs I have been seeing.
freebie , I would think we would say Greater S New England, but I am open?
Any ideas for boundaries?
Still working on length of time/duration...any ideas?
Thanks, cb

Some thoughts:

Shore -&- Boat? C&R ? HONOR SYSTEM!

At least two S-B members per boat / shore team? C&R Length / Girth ? Long Island to the Merrimack?

Other S-B angler Tape Measures length and girth while catching angler takes picture with Time Stamp.

Top Fish, Top Boat, Top Shore? Couple other prizes.

Proceeds to Wounded Warriors (a 501.C3 doing one helluva job https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ )

Starts 5am this Friday the 8th, ends noon Sunday the 17th? :bl:

Tip of the hat to C2Bfly for thinking this up :btu:
