I went to boaters world today, and ended up picking up a few packages of storm lures and some wire leaders on sale.
Then I thought :
Let me put together some info I was given at the forum.

So I picked up two of the 1/2 ounce Spro Prime white bucktail jigs and a jar of 6" x 5/8" Uncle Josh sea rinds (No. 56-S Forked tail strips, yellow with white body.

How is this for winter fishing at Fox point power plant in Providence???
If I attach a sea rind trailer to a 1/2 ounce Spro Prime white bucktail jig , what methods of retrieve should I use??

If you are fishing from shore, go to that spot next to the fence where the outflow flows out to the middle of the river. Cast into the current and let your line free spool...watch your line go out as far as you like and flip the bail back over when it has gone out as far as you want. Slowly jig the lure, you'll feel the current, try and keep it near the edge of the flow down deep. I seem to get the most strikes/fish from that type of retrieve. I saw your other post about the bunker lure..I bought some of those at Walmart used them 2 weeks ago-caught nothing but they have good action.

And, will a 1/2 ounce bucktail with 6" trailer be able to be taken out into the current?? Or will it just sink?? Seems alot of resistance to me.

Also, do you know of any lures, techniques or stories or fish that you have caught in that area near the fence? Now that I know a place and can get to a place that another forum member knows, I would like to learn about it's history. Thanx!!!!

Simplify gents :D - use the Spro but also get plain 1/2-3/4 ounce jig heads and a bag of Zoom Albino Flukes and Salt&Pepper Grubs to use as well. The thing about the Spro and the 6" rind might be a bit much. Little stripers will always amaze when a 7 inch striper hits a 6 inch lure but the best rule of thumb is still to match the hatch.

Most of the bait at the PP is small and you should match it as well...

Also, those Spros can be $$ so regulat little jig heads and a bag of plastics can go a lot further for the dollar

John, how long are the Zoom albino flukes I should be picking up, and what kind of Salt & Pepper grubs? Kalin's??

Is it true all the bass at the power plant are small? Or are there a few big ones hangin out near that current of water mentioned by StriperSwiper??:confused:

carefull with those jigs. they do NOT stand up to big fish. basically they are fancy fluke jigs. i have had several break off on good fish, and know of a few guys that have had the same problem.

how can that be? they are equipped with gamakatsu hooks
