I have always used #14 or#20 Fireline on my 8'6 and 9' spinning rods and wouldn't change.
I have an 11' that i wasn't happy with the #30 Fireline and switched to #50 Power pro last year. Don't like the feel at all.

What do you guys like in the #50 range?

I am liking the suffix braid, 1st year using it and so far so good.

No wind knots and very supple....not stiff

Suffix 65. I'll give up the extra distance. The 65 is TOUGH

Also having a positive experience with Sufix 50 on a 706z and a 10' lami. No wind knots and I can see the braid easier to tie knots.

Might as well throw mono if you're going to use 50# braid. With 50# braid the diameter is about the same as mono, so you don't get much improved distance, and you don't get the resistance to abrasion that you get with mono or a hybrid mono. Fifty pound braid gives you the worst of both worlds.
I like thirty pound braid when distance is needed and a hybrid mono when toughness is an issue.

Berkley Big Game braid - 50#. Good stuff !

I tried it at the suggestion of our resident lawyer/ditch jigger after trying almost every braid out there. Treasure found-search over.

Thanks for all the info, i'll give the suffix or big game a try.

Joe your right on the mono, hate to admit it,
but i'm waay too slow anymore on a mono hook-up. :(

50 suffix just flipped it on my reel today.(stripped my reel and the outside i was fishing is now under. just like new again). but i find the suffix rounder than the power pro and can cast farther than the same diameter mono.

The weave pattern makes the difference. Suffix is 6 weave and the Diawa surf is 8 weave (even better). It makes them rounder, smoother and flexible without being limp. It's the viagra of braid.

Berkley BGB in 50 for rocks/canal. 30 for beach. Better than all the others for spinning... Haven't tried Sufix yet tho.
