Nice job on you piece in the fisherman. I'll be on Block for November's full moon this year and I've been thinking about methods for gaining an edge. Another great read.

I think as you go down the line you will find most of your great bass men are fairly intelligent.Fishing is much like the game of chess..Each move predetermined and well thought out. That is why I have only been able to attain a moderate level of success.Dumb Luck has only taken me so far..:uhuh:

:laugha:I'm to stupid to realize that the fish I caught was b/c of dumb luck. Then I spend the rest of my time continuing to do the wrong things.

Hmmm....maybe that's my problem lately :tooth:

Pete F. 08-29-2008, 07:34 AM Great article as always.
Of course a couple of weeks ago I made a trip to NH.
Full moon
Friday night overcast the moon never showed, caught fish all night.
Saturday night was probably the brightest night I have ever been out, almost could see colors, No fish not even at dawn.
Of course the cold front and the accompanying high pressure might have had something to do with it also.

I was speaking in generalities..
I have not enjoyed the article yet as it usually arrives on Fridays for me in NJ..
I hope to glean a advantage..When it arrives..
I did read a interesting article in the NJ Fisherman.Fred Golafaro did a side by side casting distance comparison. The test was fairly complete using braid and 10' rods with the Fugi System guides vs the standard surf guides.Whatever they are..He also used 2 or 3 different reels. The Van Stall 250 vs the Zee Bass. The other reel I do not recall, maybe a Spheros...Only moderate distances where achieved with the Fugi system guides.Around 5%..The Van Stall out casted the ZB..by the same moderate difference..
It did not surprise me really. I primarily use a rod with them big wire frame guides..Only times I get out done is by lighter line. Most times..There are the freaks of nature like Slip..:eek5:

Gaaahaha...old guy rod :rotflmao:
Well.... actually I've got an old honey 10'6" Lami that's set up the same way - and when I re-wrap it I'm still gonna use wire guides. My favorite eel stick.
Hey, wait a minute - NIB, are you and me the only 2 who took Friday off too?

No I'm just procrastinating..I have to clean out my truck..
I would rather clean the toilet..Not that my truck is a toilet.Well it is sometimes.I have to take all the tools out an jam em in the space of the garage that is not covered with fishing tackle.Clean it up so I am not slleping in a pile of cement.. then load up for my week long trip...
Alright it's now or never..I'm going in..
Good by cruel world..
