ProfessorM 09-02-2008, 01:51 PM I would look at some plastic deep diving lures and replicate the angle they use as a starting point. Can angle the head of the lure too. Let us know what you discover. Mugz 09-02-2008, 02:07 PM I recently did a hand carved with a pretty long lip......swims okay but I didn't get the depth I desired. Head shape could be an issue......probably need a more "sleek" approach. Will play with lip angle and length as well. Was hoping someone could save me a step in the trial & error process with some insight. Back to the drawing board. Curious how much wood vs. plastic has in the bouancy department as well.....it's gotta have some kind of play in the outcome as well. gldnbear93 09-02-2008, 03:07 PM terrible photos, but here are some pics of a musky plug. the lip is in line with the plug-no angle-and is long and round. This plug goes to about 20-25 feet. check out moores-they have quite few different lips that you can't find at some of pur regular places gldnbear93 09-02-2008, 03:08 PM photos help striperman36 09-02-2008, 03:24 PM check out moores-they have quite few different lips that you can't find at some of pur regular places Moores? do you have url? Any tips on lip angle, length, etc, etc......? Height of lip,, and relation of tie .. I think Conrad Srs. and bm jrs. are good examples because both go down without a sloped head .. Both are really TALL lips .. Conrad Sr. (mine go down about 15') is a tall lip with a high line tie .. BM jr. (mine go down about 5') is also a TALL lip with a mid line tie .. Do a search .. last winter everyone was making Conrad Srs. ..Also note conversations how this plugs sits in the water .. half submerged ,, so weighting also comes into play .. and yes ,,, we make are own lips for these numbskull 09-02-2008, 04:06 PM With long lips like that, the position of the line tie becomes crucial to avoid roll out. There where some very detailed threads on this by the freshwater guys on tackleunderground last winter. Mr. Sandman 09-04-2008, 07:22 AM Are you looking for plastic or metal?
