I am so blessed to have 2 incredible cooks almost at my disposal. One is my baby sister who comes up about twice a month from Queens NYC, as she loves to fish as well, and she likes to try making new recipies with all the fish we catch, god bless her as her creations and stuff she makes are incredible! Then there is my brother in law who has to be one of the best cooks I know and will do the same with the fish. Put them together and I'm in cooked fish heaven and keep in mind this is coming from a guy who loves to fish but doesn't really like eating fish, weird huh? I run the boat (Hooper runs the boat), everyone catches the fish, I clean the boat and get things ready for the next trip while everyone cleans the fish and prepares dinner, what a great deal! Here was this past Labor Day weekend in pics.

Baby sis either tied into her best striped bass or first bonito, I can't remember which;

This for sure, was her first bonito ever, since last summer, her main mission was to catch a bonito, she got her wish x 4 this day. All the previous bluefish she had caught was just practice for this day;

Bonito sliced up and ready for us to dip into the sauce, the consistency of the stuff is like butter;

A pile of the bonito all steaked up. We did well on Sunday, casted and caught 13 of these fish. Just drifted along the shoreline, blind casting and we got them. Many look for birds and splashes, but I have found that there are just areas where there are lots of silversides and sand eels and current and the fish are just there, thankfully, a true bonito Honeycomb-Hideout;

Another night, they made this tomatoes, onions and black bean sauce with the massive 5-6lb Black Sea Bass we caught in the rain on Saturday in 40-70' of water.

A pair of 4-lb fish on deck. Catching these things in anything over 50' makes me feel like I'm fishing for cod in 180-220' of water as the fish put up a great fight all the way to the top, especially on the 20lb braid I've got the 6500 reels spooled up with;

Plenty of striped bass around to that make it to the pot as well. Here is the curried striped bass, one of my favorite dishes as someone could put in strips of an old shoe and it would taste good in this curry sauce. Dredge and fry the bass first, then add it to the pot, so, so, so very nice!

Finally some bonito ceviche' which is raw fish mixed in with some sort of citrusy concoction and I was surprised as it tasted pretty darned good as the bonito is not so fishy tasting like striped bass is. First time I ever had the stuff but would eat it again;

Here is my cockpit littered with the SeaBass along with the 3 bonus scup as scup are both my Dad and my other sisters favorite fish to eat, something about them makes them more desireable than any other fish and I've heard the same from many others who will go out of their way to catch scup to eat;
