View Full Version : your thoughts on the possible trifecta of hurricanes Karl F 09-04-2008, 12:14 PM ??? FishermanTim 09-04-2008, 12:30 PM Depending on the storm track(s), it could either (#1) push the fish out to sea to ride out the storm (and ride out of town in the process), or (#2) hold them up north and delay their migration. I would like option #2, but #1 seems more likely. Plum Crazy 09-04-2008, 12:34 PM We could really use some new structure on the beach but one storm would be enough. I hate to say it but I am only able to fish weekends (some of us have to work) Why do the storms always hit on weekends? I am afraid this will bring in weed bigtime and make fishing impossible. I too believe that it will totally screw up the fall run. They just may bypass the shoreline on their way home.:doh: Crafty Angler 09-04-2008, 01:15 PM Just saw the latest on the Weather Channel, Karl - they're usually pretty good on track predictions - looks like we're gonna get a fair piece of Hannah, 40 to possibly 60 MPH winds, heavy swells and rips alnong the entire coast. Called my bride at work, we're gonna go on DefCon 3 just as a precaution, make sure everything on decks, porches and in yard is secured. I've got a feeling as soon as Hannah hits the Gulf Stream she's gonna haul ass - as long as she skirts the coast we're good, if she goes in somewhere up here and you're in the NE quandrant - well, not so good but nothing major. You may wanna check your elevation on that big sandbar out there, though :hihi: I gotta work Saturday til midnite, it's gonna be a ****house mess, going to show up with full FW gear in the Jeep including my sou'wester hat. No poop, I end up looking exactly like the guy in my avatar - boy, that's scary. Gotta get back to work on the apt. for the new people moving in and then secure stuff - well, Mrs Crafty always says if you can't be handsome, at least be handy :hs: Crafty Angler 09-04-2008, 01:18 PM Oh yeah as far as screwing up the fishing - you can't lose what you don't have. It's been slow but cool nights are causing little blips here and there for the determined with too much time on their hands. Water's still too warm to make a fishing bender worthwhile or so it seems. Joe 09-04-2008, 01:22 PM The more storms, and the less time between storms, the better chance you get one. It rained for four days prior to the 38' Hurricane. BrianS 09-04-2008, 01:28 PM Well its making me head out to the ditch tonight. Clammer 09-04-2008, 02:36 PM FINE BY ME :: always been good fishing before & great after >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Plus a bonus >.on all the boats that pull out of their marina .s >> 95 % don,t go back in this time of year ><><>.,:fishin: BigFish 09-04-2008, 02:37 PM The fish are not in "Fall Run" mode yet! They will have to tie the feed bag on before they decide to leave and Mother Nature has not served them up a smorgasbord yet! Too early for the weather to blow out the fall season! eastendlu 09-04-2008, 02:53 PM The fish are not in "Fall Run" mode yet! They will have to tie the feed bag on before they decide to leave and Mother Nature has not served them up a smorgasbord yet! Too early for the weather to blow out the fall season! I agree 100%. Striperknight 09-04-2008, 04:13 PM Lets get them out of the way early. jimmy z 09-04-2008, 04:51 PM If the storm's were in mid to late Oct., I would say adios. The bass haven't started moving yet, so they'll be around for a bit.:kewl: kenyee 09-04-2008, 05:20 PM they're finally in southern NH/ME, so it's probably too early for them to disappear... Grapenuts 09-04-2008, 05:36 PM So.... good??? bad??? or... as one seasoned surfcaster said to tme this AM.. bang bang... bye bye...fall run... ????? your thoughts??? this will hold true for most of the outer beaches on cape crud...has been like that anyway the pass half doz. years or more.....sure you'll get a fish here or there, but nothing like the old days use to be.....but the ditch will see waves of fish going through storm or no storm...new breed of stripers are going that way for the most part...some will hit offshore and keep going. Flaptail 09-05-2008, 05:37 AM Three weeks from now I would be concerned. Too early for worry. Pt.JudeJoe 09-05-2008, 09:25 AM This early I think it can only help ,as slow as things are. It should mix up the water, lower the temps, shake up the bait (where ever it is) and it digs up the bottom. Lots of clams and crustaceans get displaced during a storm and the stripers come in to feed on them after the storm passes. CaptMike 09-05-2008, 09:44 AM I just hope one of them doesn't wash out next weekend too Pete F. 09-05-2008, 10:14 AM I'm worried about the 18th when I head to Cuttyhunk, hopefully they will have blown thru by then Crafty Angler 09-05-2008, 10:17 AM This early I think it can only help ,as slow as things are. So Joe, you're telling me to go pick up some big sea clams that are gonna get washed up on Easton's Beach while they're still fresh and use them on a 7/0 hook to catch a large bass? I thought so :hihi: Back Beach 09-05-2008, 10:55 AM Three weeks from now I would be concerned. Too early for worry. AYE, Flappy. Back Beach 09-05-2008, 10:56 AM So Joe, you're telling me to go pick up some big sea clams that are gonna get washed up on Easton's Beach while they're still fresh and use them on a 7/0 hook to catch a large bass? I thought so :hihi: Any easterly facing beach for that matter. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
