i am taking a trip to texas next spring or summer. i have never been fishing for redfish/seatrout, and would appreciate any help you guys might be able to give me. if you know of any websites or message boards, that would be helpful too. i have searched around the net, but haven't been able to locate a good message board to "lurk" on. thanks.

Having lived and fished in texas for 6 years I know a little about the subject. Try coastalfishing.org for a decent message board. To fish you are going to have to drive to Galveston or Corpus Christie. Keep in mind Texas is a huge state and drive times can be a little long. 28 hours from east to west and so on.

i am going to the Port O'conner area. i got a trip at the CCA-CT Hartford chapter banquet. it is a three day guided trip, but i wanted to go down with some knowlege already locked away in the "vault". i will be mainly wading for redfish and seatrout. the dates are still up in the air, when would you recommend i go there? i am pretty psyched, as redfish are on my list of fish i want to catch! thanks.

First off if wading you want to make sure that you have waders even though the water is warm. lotsa things like man-o-war that hang out in the surf. some of the tenticles are 15feet long or more and can really put a hurt on you. Other things to consider is that until you get to about the 38 to 40 mile area at PINS the water is a very muddy brown color and hard to see what you might be stepping on. make sure that sharp objects wont peirce the bottoms of your boot. Expec to see eveything including at time the kitchen sink on the beaches. they are filthy with trash. Should you want to fish the Corpus Christi area and Pardre Island area you should know that its a 5 to 6 hour ride to the end of the beach in 4 wheel drive. Make sure you have a full 2 tanks of fuel when you enter the beach. I would be more than happy to put you in contact with my Friend Nick Meyer from Breakaway. He will be more than happy to help you out with what you need to Know. Send me a PM and i will be happy to help you should you want to fish that area. Regards Big Dave
