JohnR 09-23-2008, 09:53 AM ... Johnny Habs passed.
Be sure that when you are out on one of those great nights, whether starry or stormy, you say hello to John upstairs chasing large...
Bernzy 09-23-2008, 10:19 AM Not a day goes by that I don't miss my friend and mentor.

Rob Rockcrawler 09-23-2008, 04:27 PM I never had the pleasure of meeting john. When i logged on this AM i noticed the homepage was changed up. Good job JohnR, it gave me a chill and i took a minute to reflect.
Raven 09-23-2008, 04:47 PM something about John Habs you see in his eyes
via the picture by crazy Alberto which is awesome
you get something more than you would normally see
my only wish is that i could have known him....
it's obvious that he meant so much to so many people way beyond
his artistry in plug making...
risurffish 09-23-2008, 04:55 PM There is not one night when i am on the beach that i do not think of john

Same here. I say hello to John and I say hello to a boy named Ryan that a few people will have remembered from Ryan's Rock. I never met Ryan or his dad but the story is always with me when I go to the surf.
striperondafly 09-23-2008, 05:37 PM I think about John everyday. He left presents in my garage, truck, office, plug bag, and most importantly my brain. Until we meet again...
spence 09-23-2008, 06:13 PM I didn't even know him all that well, but once, just once, I want to rip a fart in the back of a big meeting just to make his ghost laugh.

jimmy z 09-23-2008, 08:01 PM RIP, my friend.
Crafty Angler 09-24-2008, 12:35 AM Habs picture on the front page startled me a little too -
I remember the shock and sadness of a year ago when I first read the news.
My thoughts and prayers have been with the family as the sad anniversary approached -
I think there's a part of him that will always be with us all as an example of a life lived well if way too short - but then I also firmly believe that strong spirits never really die.
Rest easy, John.
piemma 09-24-2008, 06:22 AM I knew John very well. I tested his plugs back in 90 and 91 before he started selling them. John and I would meet at Home Depot in Smithfield and have coffee at Dunkin' right up the street. I saw John alive, for the last time, 3 days before he passed. He gave me a copper Nightin Gale on the Block the Fall before. I have never fished it but I may this week on the Cape to honor his passing.
RIP my friend. Perhaps I will see you again in the future.
Pt.JudeJoe 09-24-2008, 08:09 AM I was over the Habs house yesterday.Jess and Jr are doing ok ,all things considered. It's hard to grasp that John's been gone a year. Jr has been busy in the Habratory and he is doiong a great job, amazingly well for the short time he's been at it.Dad is most certainly smiling at his son's work.
