I will be making some more calls today but it's likely we'll try to put a trip together on one of the Captain Jon boats out of Plymouth for Sunday, Dec 1st (no Pat's game) ...

Cost is $35 + 5 for rod rental if you need one. Plus figure we'll have a small S-B pool :D

I want to see how many would likely show up for this, please follow on to here.

Thanks,

John

BTW - These are the people that showed interest on the last thread - let me know if I'm missing anyone:

i should still be in. what would be the recommended gear to bring? i have never been cod fishing, but i have enough stuff that i should be able to put together an outfit. will we be jigging or bait fishing?

JohnR
11-22-2002, 02:58 PM
OK - I just talked to them. We could rent the whole boat but it wouldn't be any bargain dollar-wise - I did ask if we could bring 30 or so people as a group and she said no problem. So I need to verify that we can do this as a group if everyone can say yeh or neh if they are in...

Thanks,

John

JohnR
11-22-2002, 03:17 PM
Christian - no problem. I would like to see you go but like you said, being 16, I would want to have permission from your folks first, or have one come which really is fine, member or not... I'll PM you my home phone number...

And if anyone else wants to bring a significant other, son or daughter, or friend, just let me know as soon as you can and as long as there is room - that's fine...

Thanks,

John

1. what time must we sign up by?

2. what time does the trip start?

JohnR
11-25-2002, 08:13 AM
OK - I'd say if we have a list by noon Wednesday - that should be good. If people still want to signup afterward or need to cut loose, an e-mail or PM will work...

The idea is to be at the boat by 6am Sunday morning. The dock is right near the rotatry in Plymouth Harbor - I'll put up better directions shortly...

OK - still on the list:

I'm going to be pouring up some test 5 inch grubs to bring along, which will be poured using a phosphorescent pigment. Question for the cod experts, what colors? What hooks size/style should I bring along for teasers? Also like to pick up a few jigs, what weights should I be shooting for, or will that be dependant on the day/conditions. Canalratt do you have any more of those jigs of yours, if so put me down for another.

Got Stripers,
Small lobsters and crabs are almost always in the cods stomach I catch outside of green harbor.
I've used whatever plastic I have on hand and had luck, thats the beauty of cod, if they're there, they eat.
With the recent rains they might be feeding on the small herring working there way south too.

Guys I probably won't be able to go still working on it. GS pink head with white tails are what most guys use but orange is good too.

11-25-2002, 02:27 PM
Thanks Tony, but what about the jigs, do you have some left for sale. Those were sweet and even though your other one hasn't even seen the water yet, I do plan on getting in some cod fishing this winter. If you have any left, maybe we can hook up for an afternoon and chase some smallies. Acutally just realized this trip is Sunday, so I doubt we will have time to hook up, but let me know anyway.

Looked at the marine weather forecast and Friday/Sat look to be 10-15 mph winds out of the west, so if they hold or lighten for Sunday, we could actually clear the harbor this time around.

Bill, I will be around MT. Wilcox.

Is Bear MT. north or south of the pike ?

PM me:D

GS, I like white and motor oil is good also.

Some guys like the small teaser/grub size but you know what they say big bait big fish:D

I use a 5 or 6 inch rubber shad teasers.

If it looks too rough, you can always go "Flatty" fishing in Duxbury/Plymouth Harbor.....

Keep those Salteens handy!;)
