Providence -- Search crews are looking for a missing man in waters off Narragansett. They're focusing on the area around Black Point off of Ocean Road.
The 9-1-1 call came in about 6 p.m. The Coast Guard dispatched two boats and a helicopter. They found a woman in the water and have been searching ever since that time for a second victim.
The Coast Guard said it would search through the night in hopes of finding the man safe.
Stay safe folks.
Crafty Angler 09-29-2008, 07:59 AM Well, I recommended to several people yesterday that they get the hell off the rocks on the Drive - a couple of whom had small children with them - jesus, how friggin' stupid are these people?
God, it pisses me off
"C'mon, kids, let's go watch the big waves - oops, have you seen Suzie?"
#&$*# dimwits.....
Parker650 09-29-2008, 12:51 PM Was at WH light last evening, surf was poundin...I pull back to cast and here comes Mr. & Mrs. Numbnutz walking behind 30 fisherman in waders and cleats up along the wall and out to the point...we were all drenched, luckily they only lasted about 5 minutes.
Then a few mins later I pull back and glance to my left to see an older gent in a sweater, jeans and yes, boat shoes standing next to me.:eek5: I would have loved to have seen him hook up, then again being the closest to him, I probably wouldn't...
BassDawg 09-29-2008, 01:02 PM we can NEVER be too careful,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
always take the extra step to secure yer safety, and
then take another step to be prepared at ALL times
for the worst, especially when she's a BLOWIN' out there!!!

Rob Rockcrawler 09-29-2008, 04:09 PM I cannot believe that it happens year after year. Im not sure if the victims were from the area or not. The place has a reputation known by many in the area. I wonder if it happened near the end of the main trail near the ledge or down on the rocks.
nklinesider 09-29-2008, 04:35 PM i dive black point pretty regularly, and this morning i got a call from my boss making sure that it wasnt me that drown. when the surf gets even a little big there, the underwater currents rip pretty hard and can easily smash you into the school bus sized boulders only about 10-15 feet down
ivanputski 09-30-2008, 05:58 PM I would hate to be fishing there tonight and hook into something other than a bass... be safe people... i was at watch hill sunday night as well, and the surf was POUNDING... 2 guys came out in flip flops to fish and ate it... I was wearing cleats and I got washed around!
