Fish-eye,

While that fish-stand is a deathwish in most of the places I fish... I have wished a few times that some of the the old bass-stands were still alive and kickin.

Mr. Sandman,

Here's an old one from Cuttyhunk that you might not feel to safe on either.

But one thing is for sure, it stretches over fishy water.

Mike I might have tripped over some of those remnants. Those guys were either dedicated or coo-coo. :smash:

Fishtales, would that be the Surf Stand Highbraker or something?
I saw it in an article of Saltwater Sportsman.... starts at like $300??
I think there are better things to buy with that money...

He needs better camo waders for that surf stand than Mossy Oak or Real Tree -- maybe Silver Suds or Blue Ripple? :smash:

when I am in my surf stand I like to wear my seafoam camo....so I can sneak up on those striped critters in the wash...teeheehee......

Jenn,

When I sneek up on the critters, I like my "stand" or "blind" to be underwater, not in the nosebleed seats. :smash: :D

Yow, that does look a little shakey. Great historic pic. I've have see a few of the steel pipe remains on nearly every Island around MA/RI,. There are some remains even on Block between ballards and the shoot and I think on the west side as well. It must have been a popular approach back then. I doubt they could cast that far with the line (and equipment) they had back then and a stand made sence.

Its hard to find good "chummers" anymore anyway. Heard they went union. ;)

It is just as well that they don't exist anymore...the quarreling that would go out there would ruin the experience of it. I would like to fish from one only to experience what they went thru back then. I bet in a 40knot blow it was quite the white knuckle drill.
