I have received this from one of our S-B / RISAA Members

The Barrington Town Council will once again meet to discuss parking issues at the Daunis Right of Way, which is located at the end of Nayatt Rd. in Barrington. A handful of nearby residents have been trying to pursuade the Town to restrict night time parking at the right of way because of alleged, but still unproven violations they say are occuring at night.

RISAA members have been attending Town hearings on the issue regularly to voice support for unrestricted parking. (There are only 2 parking spaces as is.) All concerned anglers and other user groups are encouraged to attend the upcoming meeting this Monday, October 6 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Barrington Town Hall, 283 County Rd., Barrington.

Please voice support for public access and parking for the public. The Daunis ROW discussion is Item 17 on the agenda published by the Town. http://www.ci.barrington.ri.us/government/documents.asp

Thanks.

RISAA Public Access Committee

This is important! We are faced with a constant erosion of Public Access for fishing. This is something that must concern us all.

Do we have anyone, specifically Barrington Residents that can go to this meeting? I hope to go but the Barrington town council won't care much for my opinion as I live directly across the bay.

Who can go, especially from Barrington?

Thank you for your support :btu:

Thanks for posting this john, as you said we need people at this meeting...especially town residents.

Make no mistake the future of public access is at stake. Daunis is the first and only ROW that has parking on the ROW itself. Either way, this will set precedent around the state.

Nobody in Barrington?

I know 3 people from there that might go but Anglers do need a better showing.

Not sure of the legalese but a motion was put forth for an Ordnance which would entail further discussion. The issue is not resolved but without a good showing by Anglers and MOST ESPECIALLY Barrington Residents, we could lose this one.

as john mentioned, it appears to be now in the hands of the town council and town residents. an ordinance will be announced and revealed at the nov town council meeting. then, a public hearing on the proposed ordinance will be announced for a future date. time restrictions could be part of that proposal, such as a 9pm-6am or 11pm-4am closure to parking. all that will be revealed in nov.

if you are a town resident and oppose and time parking restrictions, please attend the next barrington town council meeting. as has been mentioned before, this could start a precedence for other ROWs in the state.
