Congrats, dude.Care to tell those of us who don't know about your catch?

Scotty caught the largest Striped Bass from Shore out of the Derby. To many people, including myself, this is the most prized category of the Derby - Largest Shore Bass.

Oh, and the cool thing is that a member of S-B won top categories in the Derby 4 times in the past:

Leo - Shore Bass 2005
Keith - Boat Albacore 2005
Leo - Shore Bass 2006
Scotty - Shore Bass 2008

Pretty cool that an S-Ber has won 4 top categories over the past 4 years, including 3 of 4 Bass from Shore - 2005, 2006, 2008. Pretty stinkin' cool!

A lot of people from S-B have done well in the Derby over time (me, nossomuch ;) )

Thanks to all for your kind words. Coming home and seeing all the good wishes from my fellow SB'rs put just as big a smile on my face as when that lock popped open. I have learned most of what I know about surfcasting right here on this site.
I'm really tired, but I'll tell a brief story. My girlfriend went over with me today, as well as another couple of friends of ours from work. The ferry ride over was a little choppy, and I was out kind of late last night so I went outside in the fresh air instead of sitting inside with them. I was standing out of the wind near the rail and there were 2 other guys who I deduced were fishermen so I asked them if they were headed to the ceremony. They said they were and come to find out 1 of them took the first place boat bonito, putting him in the running for the truck. We briefly exchanged stories and wished each other luck. When we were all on stage I ended up drawing the lowest number for the shore guys, giving me first choice of keys. The guy I met on the ferry (Paul Harris) drew the highest number for the boat guys, giving him the last crack at the truck. Of course you know by now I picked the right key and wouldn't you know it the guy I had just met hours earlier ended up getting the truck! I am still trying to make sense of everything that happened after that, and it might take me a few days, but needless to say it was one awesome day. If I tried to thank everybody I should right now I would be sitting here forever, so I'm gonna go chill and watch as much of the Sox game as I can without falling asleep. :buds:

Let us savor some more of your victory. Need pix of the boat
but as well a list of the rods, reels. plugs, waders, korkers,
wet tops, night lites, pliers, belts etc, etc, that also go with the
win. I would be happy to sort out some of the more useless
items among all of the above. You know you are under some
obligation to bring these items for display at the S-B get together
this Saturday. Again I will be happy to watch over some items
for you. You ever devoted, ever loyal and admiring friend.
What a win, what a man, what a human being!!!!!

Scott, it was great to meet you after the ceremony. Congratulations on a great fish, winning the boat, and a very eloquent acceptance speach. It's great to see when a winner, particularly in the Striped Bass category, is passionate about fishing and really gets what the Derby is all about.

Good luck next year.

Great to meet you too Keith. I was virtually looking over my shoulder at you for 2 looong weeks and I'm sure if there were bigger bass than mine around in that time you would have found them. Next year I would like to try and give you some company on stage when they award the shore slam(s). Great accomplishment in light of the tough fishing and hats off to you.
