I have a VS200 and in the process of landing my last fish, the edge of the spool where the line comes off got lightly scratched/dinged... nothing major, but definitely enough to fray my braid one cast at a time as it flies off the spool... can any of you recommend the best way to smooth it out? The fish had some odd proportions... 36" but was 21.5 pounds... it was a tank and had some power for a 36 " bass... You know when you see a 10 year old kid and you know he's going to grow up to be a monster? Thanks for your help guys... (Someone asked about a similar problem with a ding, but couldnt find it with a search)

Start with 220 grit sandpaper and work the ding to 600.That should do it.I prefer to take it all the way to a 1500 grit Abralon pad.

i nicked up a spool on a cabo and they wanted $50:00 for a new one . so i polished it down with crocus cloth now it is as good as new . i fish with power pro and and have had no problems with the line .

Agreed. This is the quick and easy way. One of my reels has (had) a serious ding in the spool which I just filed down. Don't worry about corrosion due to removing a bit of anodizing, it's a non-issue.

Basswipe's way will work even better if you want to get a little more involved and to leave a smoother finish.

what do you recommend for paint after the sanding ?
I use the automotive paint in the small tube with the paint brush appicator that is typically used to paint minatue figurines.
