I don't know if you have read it yet but Joe wrote an article on Andy Lemar in this issue of OTW. Andy is a fantastic fellow that I've had the pleasure to meeting in the past couple years. A truly great fellow and a heck of an angler

And he get's around better on the rocks than I do at half his age :eek5:

If you can, read it!

Thanks John,Slip, Milo -
Andy is a great guy and real gentleman - he is still out there and can still fish quite well. Thanks to Gene at OTW for letting me have a little elbow room to explore different tpyes of stories - there are other excellent local anglers out there who deserve some press, and I hope to do some more stories along this line.

Love reading about the legends and history of what seems to be a dieing breed, surfcasting.

Great job, hopefully more to come?

i have to agree, great article joe. it's great to read about how the fishing was "back then", but it's better to read about the anglers of yesteryear and their stories. keep it up!

Joe - I'm told that Nelson V. also knows every nook & cranny along 'Gansett :D ...

Seriously, I would like to see some more of these angler driven articles too. They do show the most often overlooked aspect of local angling - THE FISHERMEN! So much emphasis is given to this lure or that bait and that spot that the anglers that have worked so many nights get overlooked - granted, some like it that way :D ...

Keep up the good work...

That was a great read. Anybody see Joe Mollica's/Snug Harbor's report in last week's Fisherman? Brought a smile to my face:

"Andy Lemar was determined to prove that there are still fish at Block ISlands SE light, so he made the trip alone and had the whole place to himself. His efforts were rewarded with 8-bass the first night and 9 the second. The bass were all in the 10 to 25-pound range and fell for both needlefish plugs and eels."
