I've been a Celtic fan my whole life. Watching them win the title was great last year. Now the question is, can they repeat? I think the loss of James Posey hurts, but I think there is enough to win the east. What do you think?

i agree, the loss of Posey is huge. i think they need a second true point guard as well, to back up Rondo. Eddie House can drain 3's all day but he can't bring the ball up and run an offense. Sam Cassell is old and jacks up shots. i think they should play Gabe Pruitt more, but i'm sure there's a reason why they don't.

all that being said, i agree that they can win the East again,but I don't know about the whole thing. New Orleans is looking really good now with the addition of Posey, and Andrew Bynum has been lighting it up for LA in the preseason. Who knows though. I would be absolutely thrilled if they pulled it off again this year, thats for sure...

I agree about the Lakers. I was watching them the other night on ESPN and I couldn't believe how much Bynum looked like a young Shaq (not as good). He was catching lob dunks left and right.

I couldn't believe that Darius Miles didn't make the team. I thought that he would grow up being on a championship, veteran led team. It shows what a jackass he is.

I would like them to go out and get an ass kicker type player to come off the bench. Like a Jason Maxiell type, and a back up PG like you said.

I was bummed when they lost Posey but i think with Doc in charge, they have a good chance to repeat.

The loss of Posey wont make things any easier, but Tony Allen could do what Posey did defensively, I have no doubt it. Posey could make big shots and he shot .500 during the Finals from behind the arc, Tony Allen can't do that but he can fiercely drive to the basket and play the 2 or the 3 with ease. One thing repeat teams all have in common is an athletic bench. We have that. Now I don't think we will have the record we did last year, I do think we will win the Atlantic division without question and I think we could take the Eastern Conference as well. However, Pauly P. and Garnett have to stay healthy and a lot hinges on Ray Allen (he plays horrible pedestrian defense) because when he gets hot we can win anywhere. Perkins too for that matter, he should improve given he is still young.

By the way, opening night is tomorrow (10/28) against the Cavs, a very likely playoff preview.

I think Ray Allen stepped up his Defense big time against the Lakers. He, along with Posey, was instrumental in holding Kobe in check. He's a good ON THE BALL defender.

I watched Rondo last season and I have a problem with him!! He is a gifted player, talented and crucial to the team! That being said, every time I see him drive to the hoop, he is looking for only 1 thing....to draw the foul! However to draw the foul is not enough....you need to score the points at the same time and he needs to work on his touch laying the ball up on the board so he gets it to drop!! He tosses it up there with no regard like its a brick!!!! Larry Bird used to kill teams driving the lane, scoring the points and getting to the line!!! He really needs to get a soft touch when putting the ball on the glass!!

I agree. he does need to use the glass more. That is a bad habit he will probably never kick. He has such big hands that he probably feels he can just lay the ball in. I love him on defense though, his hands are so active, he deflects a ton of balls, and he gets in the passing lanes.

Paul Pierce is in the last years of his prime. I think he is going to be a beast this year! He shook Lebron one on one like 3 times. It was great to watch him carry the team when the others struggled.

Oh yeah, how about a Leon Powe shout out. I love this guy, he plays like an animal!!!!!!

Detroit game on saturday should be good. Playoff preview, plus they got the new Iverson look. Not exactly sure how I feel about that.

if stuckey plays the point, Iverson plays the 2, and Rip comes off the bench the Pistons should be nasty. their starting 5 would be Stuckey, Iverson, Teyshaun, Maxielle and Rasheed. not many teams with a starting 5 like that in the East. but we'll see. Iverson has always been a "me-first" player, lets see how he does with this "team" concept....

Iverson should not play the point. He is 2 guard. What the hell are Pistons doing. Last I checked, they were 0-2 since they shipped Billups. For starters, they never should have fired Flip Saunders, and now this Iverson trade, one they didnt need. Sure its only 2 games, but the point guard has to be able to get the ball to the open man, Iverson is just going to drive to the cup, over and over, turnover after turnover, while Wallace, Prince and Hamilton wait on the wing wide open.

Detroit is a good team, not because of star power, but because they are a team of solid players with great all around game. Even Wallace at center can drop shots from behind the arc. A good point guard should take advantage of that attribute. Iverson got some learning to do.

If you missed it, that game last night against the previously undefeated Hawks, it was the best basketball game of the season thus far. From start to finish. The C's were down 16 in the 1st half and it looked bad at the end of the 1st quater. By halftime, it was tied up. They really put that ATL confidence on ice after Pierce hit a game winning shot in with .4 seconds left.

After that game, I don't know if, at the present moment, there is a team in Eastern Conference that can beat the celtics in the playoffs. Were still
70+ games out and we gotta stay healthy, but I would not be surprised to see the Celtics and the Lakers again in 2009.

I agree with you, ES44. Great game last night, but I'd like to see Ray Allen hitting a few shots. I just hope he's having a cold stretch and not losing it all together. On the bright side, Pierce looks better than ever and Poe and Tony Allen should provide much more off the bench than last year. Maybe Tony Allen can replace some of what the Celts lost with Posey leaving.

the games at the end of the week last week were very good games. Rondo is having another good year and he is only getting better. The Celtics have a real good team as a whole right about now. Even with all the other teams giving them their best effort to knock off the kings, the celts should win plenty of games this season. I see them going all the way again. f the lakers

probably the best bench in the NBA...paired up with Pierce, Garnett, and Allen....should be deadly this season
