View Full Version : yesterday afternoon at Montauk Point quick decision 10-25-2008, 12:36 PM This was my third trip this fall. Decided to bring a camera this time. quick decision 10-25-2008, 12:40 PM Yesterday Clarks Cove produced for me right at dusk. Soft plastics in the wash on light tackle is a blast!. All the 20-30 inch bass you coud catch. schererw 10-25-2008, 01:13 PM Fished Clark's Cove, Oyster Pond Cove, and Shagwong area from my friend's boat from about 3pm to dusk Friday and had the same experience with Deadly #^&#^&#^&#^&s, Hopkins, and A27s. Often the surf guys were into the fish even better...couldn't bring the boat in any closer. Had a blast! Mix of blues and stripers (no keepers). Surprised to see so few surf guys; hundreds had been there on other great days in the past few weeks. quick decision 10-25-2008, 01:17 PM what boat where you on? BigFish 10-25-2008, 02:45 PM Great pics! Beautiful looking area for sure! Someday......:heybaby: 5/0 10-25-2008, 03:08 PM Sure does look fishy thanks for sharing,I hope that one day I can make a road trip! Bob ProfessorM 10-25-2008, 06:45 PM Great photos. thanks schererw 10-25-2008, 08:14 PM Quick Decision...When I was there, there were probably 10-15 boats working the Clark's and Oyster Pond Cove area...it's a center console...I think it is a Carolina Skiff (not sure). You'd be interested that the non-stop action of yesterday continued there today. I was using my truck this time and fished the western edge of Oyster Pond Cove/Shagwong from 3-6pm. Since it was Saturday at least 75 guys were constantly hooking up with large blues and stripers (only one keeper seen by me). Left the fish biting...too tired to continue. Saved a 70+ year old guy who was knocked down twice by the rough water (25SW) and was being dragged in...a top ten day for me at M. Mr. Krinkle 10-25-2008, 08:35 PM Sure does look fishy thanks for sharing,I hope that one day I can make a road trip! Bob That's funny, I live close to Montauk and say the same thing about fishing up in Massachussetts. flyvice11787 10-25-2008, 09:04 PM Great pics! Beautiful looking area for sure! Someday......:heybaby: Let me know when and I'll take a few days off to fish with you . First couple of weeks in October are usually good. Fish_Eye 10-26-2008, 06:13 AM Nice shots! Mr. Sandman 10-26-2008, 07:32 AM Nice photos...brings back memories.. use to keep a boat in the Gone Fishing Marina. The motor barely got warm before you were on to fish most days. Probably one of the best fishing harbors in the northeast. Did you see lots of bay anchovies this year? schererw 10-26-2008, 01:24 PM Lease a home 1/4 mile from Gone Fishing Marina for two months each fall. Bay anchovies/white bait have been here in the trillions for the past eight weeks. They are still here...first signs of larger bait (peanut bunker/bunker/weakfish) have appeared in the last week. Tman1 11-03-2008, 07:17 AM From that Sat night into morning Saltheart 11-03-2008, 08:48 AM For many years we fnished the season out at montauk last weekend in November. Always fish there in November. We even got keepers when things were slow and the limits was 36 inches. If you can take the cold you could catch fish there into december . It is a beautifyl place. I was always intrigued by the huge population of ferrel cats living out there. NIB 11-05-2008, 07:14 AM For many years we fnished the season out at montauk last weekend in November.
