I was given a section of wood it's off cut like 4" on one end an
1.1/2 on the outher an about 8" wide an 16" long, DONT have tools to cut it :smash: BUT want to build a few plugs out of it, the wood is "osage" I think thats how it spelled,:wall: can anyone cut it for me an Ill GIVE you a some or PAY you, your call, I neeeeed it cut:(

If the wood is osage orange, you may not want to use it for plugs. Reall hard and heavy stuff.

GooGoo Man, have you used this wood befor Im hand carving it is it hard wood like OAK:confused:

I would offer to cut it but I think my bandsaw maxes out at like 3.5 inches thick.

thank you, it's in my truck, will be there till I can get it cut. think it would need to be a table saw, to trim it up

Sorry it took soooo long to respond, just got back from a 2 week bow hunt in pike county Illinois, this is where I learned about osage orange trees or hedge as they are called out there, this wood is about as hard as wood gets, when you cut it it drips out a white sap that is hard to get off your hands, also if you get the dust in your eyes it burns, I am told if you burn it in your wood stove it will melt the steel. They use it for fence posts out there as it actually gets harder when it ages, & has a post life (buried in the ground ) of 30 yrs.

I'll take a picture of the Osage trees in my yard one is over 200 years old.When you burn its like the 4rth of July crackle and pop its a fireworks show.
