Did anyone catch Charlie Moore Outdoors on NESN last night? I landed on it for the last 15 min and they were sight fishing for stripers on The Cape.

According to the NESN Programming for December 2, he will be on from 8:00 - 9:00 tonight.

I didn't see the show last night, but i've seen 'The Mad Fisherman' before...the first time I saw it he was fishing with Ted Nugent...not your average celebrity guest. Usually he's fishing for the striper's smaller, freshwater cousin.

I stumbled across it last night.

I usually wouldn't admit to watching him but it's been so long since I've seen a striper that I'd even watch Barney, a Teletubbie or Mr. Rogers catch one.

Last night's show appeared to be put together from several early episodes and he caught some decent size bass. (some on eels of BI!)

Oh, yeah. I turned the sound way down. It helps if you can't hear him.

I know he was doing a show with Dave Mullahy (ASA's Five for Fighting) on Cape Cod Striper fishing

Did anyone see the episode where he was fishing for Cod? That guy is such a character. I think his mother hit him in the head too many times when he was younger:smash:

Ok.. Caught both shows last night (1/2 hr each)

The first one was on stripers, in the CT river and in MA.
The second on small-mouth bass in Big Lake, Maine.

I enjoyed the first show, as it was on stripers, and the segment in CT is only about a 1/2 hr away from me. But... I didn't really care for the way they were just throwing the fish back in the water! That really turned me off. I mean, at least bend down a little and get some water flowing into the fish instead of dropping it from 4' above the water. :smash:

I only watched about 1/2 of the second show. One, because I was still turned off by the first show and two, I got tired of hearing him repeat himself three - four times!

Nice smallie! Nice smallie! Nice smallie! Now that is a nice smallie! ;)

However, I am sure I will watch it again.

I didn't see last nights show but I think I have seen this one before...the guy who repeats himself 3 times...nice one, eh? nice one, eh? nice one, eh?

There is another show like that..."the dimestore fisherman"...It is like watching a Saturday Night Live "Waynes-World" skit. For the first 15 minutes , I thought the show was a spoof.

IMO these poor shows paint a "dumb" face on fishing. I would rather watch "Fish-On" re-runs.....Now THATS entertainment! :) YeahBaby!

Anyone ever the see the one a few years ago, a southern guy that called himself "BassMan" and often apeared out of the water - obviously a spoof - wearing a Batman costume and holding a smallie or largemouth? It was one of the few truly entertaining freshwater fishing shows. He mixed in enough spontaneous and unscripted comedy with some usefull fishing info.

I'm not a big fan of Jimmy Houston skipping a small bass acrosss the water or a lot of those shows in general - I'm a bass snob and like pretty much seeing inshore saltwater shows - mostly just stripers, but I really did like that show. It was only on a couple years....

Anyone see the recent REEL GUYS episodes of sight casting to bass on the flats? Looked like Cape Cod somewhere. I think there is another show from the same trip on this Sunday (7:30 a.m., ESPN2). Saw a short preview of it this past weekend. I think in this one they are wading the flats whereas the first show had them in a decked-out flats skiff. Pretty cool looking if you ask me. I thought the guide's name was Moore too? Definately not that SOB Charlie Moore though.

I'd love to see that episode with them wading! All you ever see are guys in boats (to each his own) or fly fishing in streams (again, to each his own).

I'm going to watch for this next Sun night!

Thanks,
Rob

I admit I can get pretty pumped and excited about fishing (and probably drive everyone crazy) but I am not on TV!!!!!!!!!! HA!HA! anyway...this guy is a SPAZZZZZZZZZ.......anytime I have watched his show I can feel my blood pressure rise....I think the sound of his voice stresses me out just LISTENING TO HIM!!!!!!

Does anyone remember a show that was on a number of years ago calles "fishing th Northeast"? If my memory serves me right, it was hosted by Mike Alperin. His catch phrase was "Let us catch the big one for you!" This guy LOVED saltwater fishing, and his favorite species were stripers, blues, salmon and tuna. This guy did a show flyfishing for salmon in Alaska. The fish were so thick you could almost walk on them. He then went fishing for monster halibut (100+ lbs). He was funny without having to rely on dry jokes and repeating himself over and over.
The "mad fisherman" is O.K., but I'd prefer more saltwater trips and less "smallies".

That show is on most nites (I've ben ignoring it, may start to do so again unless I see some improvement). Seems to be mostly on NESN Mondays & Sundays 8-9, Wed 4-5 ...

I'm goning to see a few more episodes before I make my mind up but I have not been impressed yet by his angling skills, and without the added scenery some shows carry to make up for lack-o-skill, well....

I have a weak spot for the "mad fisherman". In fact, I'd say that it's my favorite fishing show by a long shot. Sure, the guy's a braindead M@@@@@@@, but at least he gives you something to laugh at (himself) during the show. You get a little more than the standard "oooh...she's a beaut" and "gotta love (insert current five-star exotic fishing locale)". You definitely have to put up with a little his annoyingness, but EVERYWHERE HE FISHES IS IN NEW ENGLAND. You don't have to hop on a plane to get to where he's casting. Sometimes, you've fished right where he's going, and caught bigger fish. All said, the guy's a whack job, but his fishing show gives me more of what I want than any other.

I also have a nice new digital video camera, and am expecting the necessities to edit and make movies with my pc for Christmas. Originally, it was mainly going to be used to make a snowboard video. However, now I have visions of pitching a surfcasting fishing show to NESN. Just kidding, but a fishing movie will be happening.

Hmmm...even better...we could have everybody send their footage to me, and I'll make the "Striped-Bass.com Presents: Striper Booty" video. Everybody gets their own 5-7 minute montage complete with requested "theme" music. Throw in some footage of the four legger. Maybe even a Geraldo like segment where we crack open BM's mancave like Al Capone's vault...Worth a thought.

Maybe even a Geraldo like segment where we crack open BM's mancave like Al Capone's vault...Worth a thought Hehehe - Or it could be like that one on Egypt that so far has turned up empty :laughs:

There is such cool surfcasting coverage to take place and the only one I saw getting close to surf coverage was Al Gag's with ESPN and his show never materialized.

But I've been toying with getting some footage with people on this site to put something together. Nothing like what FishEye does but something that demonstrates what we have going here - would be pretty stinkin' cool. But I refuse to stand behind the camera all of the time :p

John...Sorry about the other name for..errr...Massachusetts residents. I didn't know how that was going to fly, but you're talking about the same thing as me. Nothing professional, just a cool video of what you've got going here. As for camera time, it all about the tripod these days.

Hey Don - I use that term all the time as even though I now live in the Great Ocean State, I too, am a Ma$$hole :D - The board automatically bleeps out the last 7 letters of the name as it does with B@@@@@@@ or @@@@@@@s or anything like that - don't worry :laughs: ...

Now, where are you from originally so we can make fun of that  ?

just a cool video of what you've got going here. Yep - something to put together and dump to DIVX CD and maybe even DVD... Just a thought

What I would like to get is some stuff like:

Fishing off Cuttyhunk

GS working his jerks off the Ledges of the South Shore (this should be something that Fish_Eye gets together with GS and film underwater for his videos)

Clammer and his patented &%$(#) magic (like that's gonna happen - that secret ain't getting out)

Some Ditch Jigging with the Ditch Crew (scenery omitted to protect the spots)

FW & BC with the light tackle & teaser rigs plus Boston Harbor

A long Walk

The Legs

BM, his pants, and the CCNS

Some Rod building, some plug building -

Other interesting methods / locales without giving up the world...

Stuff like that...

This "little something" sounds like it would sell about 2,000 copies to the striper fishing community. With all that you've listed, I think we'd need Industrial Light & Magic to come in and clean up the background to protect the locations.

We should talk more as the season apporaches. It seems as though you could have a season's worth of footage over a season. Maybe some toggin with bloo, and little tunny fishin' too.

PS: I'm a Ma$$hole too. Grew up in Arlington, but college in Atlanta took the edge off.
