View Full Version : What Would You Like To See For 09'?
BigFish 11-04-2008, 09:05 PM If there is anything you might like to see BigFish Bait Co. make for the 09' season.....what might it be? I am working on a couple of new plugs that I will be making in a limited quantity.......but I am curious what you might like to see?? I will have preview pics of some new things in the coming weeks! I would like to hear what you have to say!:uhuh:
stripersurfster 11-04-2008, 09:21 PM How about some Pikies in the 2.5 to 3 oz range.
BigFish 11-04-2008, 10:11 PM a bigger blitz seeker.
Have that! Its coming for 09'.......caught my PB on it in the ditch!
flyvice11787 11-05-2008, 12:11 AM Bring back the small dannies!!! A bigger Flathead would be nice too.
Raven 11-05-2008, 08:08 AM for making a half wood|
half rubber (or real eel) eel presentation

MVbluefish 11-05-2008, 12:19 PM Bring back the small dannies!!! A bigger Flathead would be nice too.
Another vote for a bigger flathead, and bring back the jtd. flathead.

Ya, I have 1 and do not want to throw it until it has a mate
redcrbbr 11-06-2008, 02:05 PM I would like to see any plug with a chrome like finish. Is it pretty tough or expensive to do with wood?
Raven 11-06-2008, 02:09 PM i watched that show last night about how things are made...
subject was mirror's
the glass was polished and then it gets a back coating
of actual silver... with a layer of copper then two coats of paint...
chrome dipping might be so hot it burns the plug...although i'm just guessing...on that...
The Dad Fisherman 11-06-2008, 03:57 PM they have a Chrome rattle can Spray paint...that is pretty friggin shiny..almost metallic.
beaver 11-06-2008, 06:51 PM What would I like to see for 09?......... A few BigFish plugs in my bag ;)
tattoobob 11-07-2008, 12:47 PM I want to see her in my bedroom
The Dad Fisherman 11-07-2008, 01:08 PM You figure out a way to spin a couple of those up on your lathe and i'll take a couple...redheads please
WoodyCT 11-07-2008, 01:45 PM I have a 1 oz., a 1 3/4 oz., a 2.5 oz. and a 3.5 oz. Canal Pencil??? What more could you want??
Weight gets you distance, and a flat bottom will help it get on top quickly in heavy current, but SIZE and action will bring big momma off the bottom with fire in her eyes!
How about a round bellied 10" by 4 - 4.5oz. monster almost as big as a Gibbs Canal Buster with that exaggerated side to side slapping Stan's pencils had? :kewl:
JW
BigFish 11-07-2008, 02:30 PM Something like this Woody??!
WoodyCT 11-07-2008, 05:02 PM She go side to side big and wide?
Slap.... slap.... slap.....slap.......
BigFish 11-07-2008, 06:18 PM Yes! She does! 4 ounces and 9 inches long!:tooth:
Finaddict 11-07-2008, 09:11 PM 9 inches ... that's better larry, but have to say handling a plug like that with a fish flapping around makes three trebles challenging to handle ...
Finaddict 11-07-2008, 09:31 PM Sorry Larry, but you've opened this up ... here's another one ... what about making a Danny, not much heavier, but a few inches longer so there's a larger profile in the water and larger wake ...
and then ... if you want to get even more creative ...
... add a chamber where you can add bunker oil or some other fish oil so that the plug oozes bunker oil, makes a trail ... any fish debating whether or not to eat the big Danny will smash it ... you just won't be able to put it back into your plug bag ...:hihi:
But seriously, a larger Danny would also be nice.
WoodyCT 11-08-2008, 11:20 AM Yes! She does! 4 ounces and 9 inches long!:tooth:
I'll take 2 for my upcoming trip to Block on Thursday!
:jump:
flyvice11787 11-16-2008, 04:23 PM Howz about those Jointed Slope-head swimmers youi used to make....those are pretty pissah :kewl:

gldnbear93 11-29-2008, 01:22 PM the Dart was my first car. Fast and light. Beat IROCs and mustangs on a regular basis. dove ti into the ground though. Mine was brown and ugly so it lulled others into a false sense of security
BigFish 11-29-2008, 01:43 PM :topic: I appreciate a good "Mope" as much as the next guy but lets get this thread back on track guys.:uhuh:
lurch 12-01-2008, 08:09 AM Update your website!!
I like the shape of your canal pencils but they sink like a stone and take a while to get back to the surface. Maybe a slower sinking canal style pencil??
BigFish 12-01-2008, 09:48 AM They are built that way Lurch. They passed the test with flying colors this past season with many big fish caught and lost. They get down to give the big girls a look and swim back to the surface.....this is how a canal pencil is supposed to work. "Sink like a stone" is exactly the way I built them.....lighter would not be a Canal Pencil......it would be a standard pencil with a flat bottom. The entire reason for the flat bottom is because they sink it helps get them to the surface quicker.......they work.....if you have one I suggest you give it a shot and fish it accordingly as it is built to sink.:kewl:
Website soon!
titan 12-01-2008, 09:18 PM I would like to be able to buy some of those mini prey swimmers that you were previewing at last yr's RISAA show. Did those ever go into production?
BigFish 12-01-2008, 09:24 PM I will be drilling, sanding and cutting lip slots on those in the next couple weeks and they will be available before the RISAA Show!:kewl: Sorry for the delay.;) I have 400 bodies ready to go!
titan 12-01-2008, 09:31 PM Yes! Thanks Larry. I think those will be good sellers, they are a very unique plug that no one else makes, especially in that size.
BigFish 12-01-2008, 10:02 PM I wanted to have them out for this season but life gets busy so on the back burner they went...reluctantly! I fished them though and I love them!:kewl:

They cast a mile too :)

i think what i meant now about a wooden head was to get something to suspend....
is that possible? and still get the casting distance...

Hey Larry,
I think the post you're referring to is a puzzle. The picture of the "Dart" with the letters "ER" under it is what he's looking for you to build.
Dart + er = darter
BigFish 12-02-2008, 01:48 PM Gonna pass on the darter.:hs:
fishbones 12-02-2008, 01:54 PM As long as you keep making the pencils and the prey swimmers I'll be plenty happy!
BigFish 12-02-2008, 02:04 PM I will have a few new plugs to unvail just about New Years to ring in 09'! I think you will like what I am working on!:eyes:
flyvice11787 12-02-2008, 08:33 PM I will be drilling, sanding and cutting lip slots on those in the next couple weeks and they will be available before the RISAA Show!:kewl: Sorry for the delay.;) I have 400 bodies ready to go!
Ooooo , I'll take some with the small dannies :D.
The Dad Fisherman 12-03-2008, 08:06 AM I will be drilling, sanding and cutting lip slots on those in the next couple weeks and they will be available before the RISAA Show!:kewl: Sorry for the delay.;) I have 400 bodies ready to go!
Will there be a few available at the Plum Island show....:hee:
BigFish 12-03-2008, 09:24 AM I am sure I will have some!
Circlehook 12-04-2008, 04:55 PM Larry, still waiting on those "night mackeral" colored canal pencils we talked about before last season. Nice dark forest green top with smoke bellies.
5 String Bass 12-05-2008, 03:01 PM Larry, still waiting on those "night mackeral" colored canal pencils we talked about before last season. Nice dark forest green top with smoke bellies.
Night Mackeral sounds like a cool color option. I would like to see that.
As far as the dart-er, I just like'em and you asked what we would like to see. I have good luck with them, but that's just me. You have to admit, though, that was a pretty good looking picture of a Dart! It is much nicer lookiing than the ones I remember driving around in years ago :tooth:
I would also like to see smaller bodied prey that would still weighs in around 2-2.5 oz. (maybe in night mackeral... hmmmm now we're talking)
BigFish 12-05-2008, 05:42 PM The "Prey" that is now available.....and I believe you have some.....weighs 2.3 ounces? The small one which will be available soon weighs 1 ounce.:btu:
Was a sweet Dart!
