I'm thinking if it's that bad out there I should be looking for some machine talent to assist me right now.

Scott.. I know a surveyor that got laid off, he has worked steady for the smae company for almost 30 years.. they kept him as long as they could...

I'm gonna come and have you cut 20 sheets of plywood into toothpicks one at a time :)

Seriously Larry hope it works out for you. It's very difficult to make money in this business esp when you have overhead. There's too many guerilla marketers and illegals out there to compete against. Some days I wonder why I do at all.

I am keeping it small Scott! I enjoy doing it and it is good money on the side. The tax BS makes it tough.......for the small amount of money I make at it in the course of a year I spend more time dealing with the friggin quarterly taxes and the Fed!:crying:

it is going to get worse, a lot of large companies are working off their order backlog and nothing is coming in. Unfortunately it appears to be global so there isn't any offset to a slowing US economy.
The crazy thing though is retailers are reporting being 5 pct off same store sales.
Cisco is downgrading earnings by 12 pct.
My un-named employer has also announced lower earning but about the same pct and is tightening things up

It's not big numbers outside of auto and financial sector but there seems to be rising tension everywhere.

Really though, congrats.

1.2 million job losses this year through October, and I can't find a single qualified, reliable, part-time employee. And we pay decently well at the entry level for this field.

300 bucks for a Monster listing posted last week and not a single resume submitted.

A lot of people want full time, and also a lot of part time jobs don't come with medical...that could be a couple of reasons why.

post the info on it....somebody here might bite

Wow that is incredible. You'd figure if it was as bad as some say there would be a bunch of apps. What was the position?

Position is for a technician with audio and video knowledge. We do a ton of training for our new hires, so really, it's just a very basic knowledge and a willing to learn and pay attention to detail. The main issue is that the hours are tough, early mornings and late afternoons. But that isn't even brought up until the interview, because I have other positions that need to be filled by people with the qualifications.

Larry, the HD down here would be safe for ya - the women working at this one appear to be mostly lesbians.

That could be dangerous for an old guy - I'm tellin' ya, they scare me :eek5:

I'm always afraid they'd take me out in the garden dept. and beat the dirt outta me if I got smart with them :whackin:

Is it that bad? I dunno....I know 5 people that lost their jobs in the last 2 months alone....all of them mechanics. :(
