what a friggin joke. I got a $95 ticket for going 35 in a 25 so I went to contest it thinking it was the same deal as MA. you show up, plead your case to the magistrate, and then if they still want you to pay it then you pay, no added charges. nope, not in RI. first of all you appear in front of a judge and have to enter a guilty, not guilty plea. WTF? you automatically pay a 35 dollar court fee, and then they added a $50 charge because I had got a ticket in the last couple years. if I had just paid the thing and not contested it all i would've had to do was pay the 95 bucks, but nowhere on the ticket does it make any mention of this. :bsod:

Ouch. And in a state that is struggling as bad as RI is, this will be the norm. Gone are the days where just showing up to contest it got it thrown out here is Mass. The state and towns are dying for revenue. Look for tickets to be increasing.

For sure, i've seen more #'s of traffic stops in the last 2 months then all of the past year.

So...... you got caught speeding, tried to get out of it even though you did it, they wouldn't have it and then charged you extra for wasting the courts time.

Don't take this the wrong way...I usually get pissed when they take money from me, and I've taken it on the chin a couple of times too......but that pretty much is it in a nutshell though. :hee:

(Yeah, I know, I'm being a ball buster but this is just some sarcastic humor)

i think its a joke they add more charges if you've been speeding before, like 2 yrs ago. i mean seriously, i was going 35 in a 25. not like i was hauling ass...
