Ya know, just when you think it can't possibly get any more disgusting...:smokin:

What's next - giving failed banks and investment firms a trillion dollars so they can at least make good on the bonuses they owe to their top execs?

Oooops...wait, they already did that.

We've always tortured people - we just never admitted to it publicly. Making the use of torture public was for shock effect to people contemplating joining the insurgency or terrorist organizations - at the time, I think it was a good idea, but over the long term its had the effect of degrading our global stature.
Obama stated that he'll change the torture policy by executive order - but that's just a dog-and-pony show, we'll go back to torturing people covertly or handing them over the Turks or Egyptians to do our torturing for us.

You should watch "Taxi to the dark side". Its a documentary about an innocent man who was tortured to death, and torture in Iraq, afganistan and Guantonamo bay. Really quite disturbing, especially the fact that all the people in washington that gave the ok for this walked away free , while many soldiers were prosecuted. If you have cox cable on demand , you can watch it on the hbo section.

it'll take about another decade unless the technology is already here but kept very top secret....
but
being able to slap someone into a machine and read their mind is going to end the need of prying out info via torture in the near future.

just in my imagination tho...
