But I am not going anywhere near there.
It's been crazy there the last 2 Saturday's.
Tomorrow is going to be really crazy.
Raven 11-28-2008, 01:43 AM a friend of mine was gonna shop early but found the same item
online at best buy for less than the advertised price.
gldnbear93 11-28-2008, 07:23 AM I have been hitting the stores on black friday for the last 5-6 years. I don't mind staying up late, getting up early staying up all night, I do that to fish 7 months of the year.
I go in knowing and expecting a madhouse and that is part of the fun. The people watching is part of my enjoyment of the morning. I love watching people get unhinged (Larry I would have a ball watching you on Black Friday if you ever went out), and I have seen some folks go crazy over stupid nonsense like a $10 gift card.
And it does not have to be all bad or hectic..two years ago I started at Target (waited for the 6am opening since about 3am-was about #25 in line) and hit 5 stores in an hour and a half (this is all long rt 2 in Warwick) and was at work by 7:45 am.
Last year I waited in front of comp usa since 10pm the night before to get MANY great deals (all told I think I saved about $600 for stuff I would have bought anyway-this was the year that led right up to comp usa's demise). I was about #15 in line. I had a ball goofing around talking, joking, playing games with a bunch of folks who were also crazy enough to be out (the line at best buy was already around the building at 10pm).
I didn't go this year, because there not that many deals on stuff I was looking for (a GPS would be nice but I am not waiting all night to save $50), and franklly I think with the way the economy is right now, there may well be better deals to be had later in the season.
TheSpecialist 11-28-2008, 07:58 AM I'll be raking leaves, this is the first time off I've had in awhile. There has to be a better way. :gorez:

Got some great deals. Now I just need to get XMas shopping done for the family.

spence 11-28-2008, 11:40 AM where did you find that?
Saks Off 5th at Wrentham. I was getting a little stir crazy on Wednesday and figured I needed to put my crutches through some trials :jester:
Overall the selection on the clearance racks was pretty lame though. 30% off of everything with an additional 20% off of clearance and outerwear.

striperman36 11-28-2008, 11:43 AM Nice,
That mall backed up 495 again this early am, nice draw.
Should see about price to have a man store, near by, power tools, etc..
spence 11-28-2008, 11:57 AM Wrentham is a zoo at times, but I don't really find the shopping there to be all that great compared to some of the outlet malls I've been to.
I have managed a few scores at Off 5th's though.

striperman36 11-28-2008, 12:03 PM Just sent a full crew home 2 hours early at a nearby retailer, the place is empty of shoppers
Weather may be a factor

Weather isn't ideal. I'm sure the economic story has a role to play...
Also, the sales have been ongoing pretty much since labor day. I think a lot of people have already done their shopping.

ProfessorM 11-28-2008, 02:10 PM I hate shopping so you won't catch me anywhere near a mall, store. I just finished winterizing my 2 boats and both engines. Friggin rain made it miserable. They said sun and clouds this morning on the weather. I got soaked but I was all greasy and grimy so I wasn't quitting when it started until I was done. Tarp them tomorrow and I'm done.

So what you are saying is that most of the time you buy a suit, sportcoat or clothes......you are generally for the most part taking it hard up the wazooo??!!!:humpty: Be the freakin' day I pay $1,300.00 for a sportcoat......glad you got a deal! Heck that would be the day I buy a sportcoat period!!:laugha:
UserRemoved1 11-29-2008, 04:47 AM LARRY you missed the best deal ever. Brand new Dewalt 18v cordless drill, 2 batteries, 1 hour charger. Lowes and Hd both $97. You can't even buy two new batteries for that and you get a brand new drill with keyless chuck for free. I been nursing a dwalt here for ~8 years. One of the best battery drills on the market ever and it's over 1/2 price off. Or you missed the 14 gallon shop vac 4.5 hp with wheels, $29 @ Lowes. They gave me a $10 coupon off on the next $50 purchase. I loaded the truck and turned around I'm no fool. Great vac. Now I got a way to recycle alooominum tillings instead of throwing it in the trash. I spent 50.90 and I got another $10 off coupon on the next $50. They just paid me $20 for buying what was already a pisser deal.
I got paid to shop in their stores.
Shoot your an employee now lookit what you probably coulda gotten off there too :hee:
Smarter not harder :rtfm: :rotf3:
BigFish 11-29-2008, 07:10 AM Waiting until I start...don't get the discount till then.:uhuh: That is a great deal though!
UserRemoved1 11-29-2008, 08:18 AM Just think next year at this time we're gonna be sittin here reading a grump thread about stupid Lowes shoppers messin up your wood piles, fartin in the aisles, and havin to get up the day after Thanksgiving at 2am :hee:

No, I buy everything off-price and at a big discount. There's no way I could afford the stuff I buy at even 1/2 of retail.
I like nice stuff but I'm not rich, just smart :hihi:
