Love the American masters Cash albums; some of the covers he did, should have been his song (read "Desperado"). Cash is about as far past The Marshall Tucker Band I roam into country....

Tautog01, where the hell didja find that one? I had no idea you were so musically inclined, I thought you spent most of your time mutilating green crabs...:hihi:

Hey, I saw Hendrix and the Experience at the old RI Auditorium in the Spring of '69. It was awesome - and actually this is one of those "no s**t, this really happened" stories - the Auditorium caught fire, the crowd panicked and rushed for the exits while he was on.

Jimi was in the middle of 'Purple Haze' and just kept playing - my date freaked grabbed my hand and bolted for the doors and all of a sudden I had visions of Cocoanut Grove - yanked her back and wouldn't let go, went to the vacant front row seats and watched him finish.

Hey, you know, ya try to tell kids that today and they'll say 'Don't believe ya, don't believe ya'...:hihi:

Thanks tautog01, the missus seems to be a whole lot better today - she's been chasing me all over the house since 6 AM nipping at my heels the whole time - yup, she baaack.... :hihi:

Ya know, I'm glad she is too - the kid scared the hell outta me. All it takes is a good health crisis to put everything in perspective for ya - man...:hs:

Can't believe MM pooped the bed too - that's really a shame. Great drummer -

Anyhow...this one is really not obscure, but one of the all-time great covers - I'll swear Stevie Ray was channeling Jimi on this one.

My favorite version of all along the watchtower. It was D.M. that convinced Hendrix to record the song as they were buddies in England at the time and hanging at the studio.

Just because I'm a left leaning liberal doesn't mean I don't have good taste in music... when I'm not listening to NPR/BBC at work, I have Pandora playing tunes in the background all day. I put LC in one of the posts about bands who should be/have been more popular...

I grew up in a house full of blues, Dead and Rock n Roll, ... that's why I said Tautog01's posts will go up once he found this forum, he pays as much attention to music as blackfishing...

Well, this I would guess is a REAL obscure version of 'Whipping Post' performed by a young Emily Elbert...

I think Dad may have taped her performance at home - although I gotta admit her voice and style reminds me a lot of Ellen McIlwaine -

And who in the hell, you may ask, is Ellen McIlwaine?

Another very good bluesy/folksy type in Uncle Crafty's pile 'o' vinyl...:hihi:

I probably shouldn't make jokes about this young lady - she may be a Grammy winner one day - her phrasing is actually pretty good for a kid.

Hey, you wanted obscure, right?

Uhhh... saw a couple more of Emily's tunes - I think it may be a while before she shows up as a Grammy nominee - hey, hang in there kid...

Another version of Whipping Post by Lina Koutrakis...

And who is Lina Koutrakis?

Damned if I know, but here she is performing at BB King's Blues Cafe -

So, can a Greek girl really sing the blues?

I dunno, the jury may still be deliberating on that one - although when she starts wailing at about 4 minutes into it she does sorta remind me of a coupla Greek women I've known...

A nice take by Gnarls Barkley of Reckoner by Radiohead. My favorite Radiohead cover I've ever heard by far. Not that there's a lot of them but usually when you do hear one it's a spectacular crash and burn such Panic at the Disco's Karma Police cover.
