View Full Version : Circumnavagation
Duke41 12-09-2002, 07:28 PM My parents whom are retired just completed a circumnavagation by sail of this great planet. They left 11-04-93 and finished today at 4:32 pm crossing their outgoing line in Antigua. I know a few of you have met my dad he was a part time commercial tuna man with his brother "Poppa Smurf". They have sailed some 25,500 miles. Can you believe it, blows my mind. Anyway the old man will be on Surfrunner next summer catching yellow fin with me. Come over and say hi to a master mariner. Happy Holidays and thanks for all the great posts this year.:D

Mr. Sandman 12-10-2002, 08:10 AM I bet they have some great sea stories! I know I couln't do it. Sail to the islands for a few months...sure, but around the globe.... for 9 years...no, I know I could not do it.
You have some special parents.
Got Stripers 12-10-2002, 08:27 AM Too cool!!! I love the ocean and have been sailing or boating since I was a young teenager. That is a great accomplishment and I'll bet their stories would fill a couple books.

TIM AUBE 12-10-2002, 08:03 PM That's fantastic!!! They have had an experience most of us may never have, and all would probably love to have. I can only imagine the things they saw, places they went, and the people they met. I hope I get to enjoy my retirement half as much when the time comes!!!

"uffah!!" 12-11-2002, 11:04 AM Duke41,
Did I read right? They left 11/04/93. A nine year voyage is pretty impressive. I bet they do have some very interesting stories to tell. I know how it was when I was in the military serving on both
Europe and South East Asia, with a tour in the middle of the Pacific
ocean at Okinawa. Hope to meet them sometime.
