this is one of my all time favorites, maybe cause I wasted so many years playing in bands and can relate, something about Fogerty's voice in this that always gets me.

I hear ya, but the tune Lodi is about trying to make a living in music. I moved to Hollywood, played in a tons of bands and tried to make a living in music. Not a waste of time, you're right, some of the best times of my life actually. But the artistic quest leaves me empty. I remember mastering a difficult jazz head on guitar and playing it perfectly, I then mindlessly strummed a few chords and my girlfriend (at the time) said "Now THAT sounds good!"

Reminds me of a funny story from "back in the day". I was playing in a group where we did a bunch of Yes songs and similar originals. Yes may not be everyones cup of tea, but very challenging musically. After every fricking song some guy in the front row would start screaming "Robin Trower" Now I like Trower and like a fool I played the 1st few bars of Bridge of Sighs...big mistake...the guy was all over us for the rest of the night. Driving home with the bass player and who's down the road thumbing a ride...it's "Robin's #1 fan" himself. The guy didn't realize who we were until he was in the car. I think he thought we were going to kill him until we blasted Trowers Day of the Eagle and passed him the .....!
