Crafty Angler 12-03-2008, 09:35 AM Good luck Dennis...:kewl: Makes me think of old Uncle Zeke - in fact, I've been cleaning out and organizing my tackle shack and found the steelie blank he picked out for me at one of the shows that was like his. I'm gonna have Billie at Edward's wrap it for me so I can use it for this year's Spring blackfish run at the spot where you and I went sight-fishing for blacks...:uhuh: Yup, I'm gonna take at stab at wrestling the '09 Blackfish Division trophy away from Team Oakley...:p There, I said it, the gauntlet has been thrown down...:hidin: Good luck - wish I could go, been thinking about calling Too Tall Babinski to see if he wants to go to the Wood River or maybe the mighty Beaver for trout...:fishin: bart 12-03-2008, 12:30 PM TO's up there right now I believe... justplugit 12-03-2008, 01:09 PM Call Whitakers Sport Shop in Pulaski for a report. There used to be a Salmon River hotline giving water levels etc., meantime i'll call a friend of mine who lives in the area, fishes it and keeps up on local reports. decksweeper 12-03-2008, 01:48 PM Dennis, Jim can make a call for you to a local guide....funny thing about calling Whitackers...I've never been told that the fishing has been bad....they always say it's great...then you go up there and they say that you just missed a huge run...Pulaski is funnny place like that...good luck... vanstaal 12-03-2008, 02:44 PM just talked to my buddy he just came back he said the fishing was better in Nov than this last time he said if had know it he would have stayed home no to mention the foot of snow that is there good luck ! redlite 12-03-2008, 02:45 PM Tbag Orlando should be on his way back as we speak. Rocco34520 12-03-2008, 06:03 PM Good luck. I hope you have a good time. tynan19 12-03-2008, 07:00 PM I was up T-Day till Sunday with Tony for the first time. 2 days of fishing I hooked into 5 fish and lost them all after some nice battles. I am ruined. Shock and Awe is all I can say. I landed a decent Brown though. Those guys were coming home today. We had fish every day. Just need to work for them. Make sure your guides have some ice off on them and the snow wasn't a problem just adds to the magic. t.orlando 12-03-2008, 07:26 PM sent you a pm Dennis couple of pics t.orlando 12-03-2008, 07:28 PM few more tynan19 12-03-2008, 07:31 PM Nice shot of John. Striperhound 12-03-2008, 08:03 PM I am going up next week as well. Fishing has been good move around and you will find the fish. Schoolhouse pool is busy with people. DSR still has fish and much less crowds, all silver fish as well. trout beads, egg sacks and flies are all working. With the cold coming back in over the weekend fish later in the day for better results and be prepared for the lake effect machine to kicks back in if the winds get going. Good luck. 5/0 12-03-2008, 08:17 PM Any smoked steelys T :grins: gone fishin 12-03-2008, 11:14 PM Combat fishing !:musc: And not the fish..........:lossinit: stiff tip 12-04-2008, 05:14 AM [QUOTE=DZ;643211]Heading to Pulaski for a few days of steelheading this Sunday. Anyone been up there recently? How about you Stiff Tip? hay, dz ...just got back fishing is great if u know how and were to fish stay in upper river .where r u staying how r u fishing do u need a guide ?? pm me i can help u ... last day i was there we 3 hooked 28 fish landing 17 all c/r .....dave.... DZ 12-04-2008, 08:51 AM Thanks for everyone's help. I've been going to Pulaski off and on since the late 1980s - steelies are my second favorite fish to target. Having good river intell is so critical when you first arrive. For those of you who have never been up there - a world class fishery if you hit it right but you have to be prepaired for cold fishing. Just when you think your the only kook who would fish in 15 degree weather - you look up and down river and see 15 more kooks. Gotta love it. DZ tynan19 12-04-2008, 12:19 PM Dennis, I had to take some photos of the parking areas to show to my family so they would believe that I wasn't the only nut. bart 12-04-2008, 04:12 PM beautiful fish guys!! :kewl: RIJIMMY 12-05-2008, 09:27 AM awesome TO, I have to give that a try. I used to head to Pulaski with my Dad every year for the salmon run. RoyL 12-05-2008, 01:37 PM nice fish guys......good luck up there DZ....Im trying to make it up the week between x-mas and the new year...............It's very addicting if you have never been tynan19 12-05-2008, 01:42 PM It's very addicting if you have never been Still debating wether to drive up tonight for the weekend. :err: RoyL 12-05-2008, 01:50 PM Still debating wether to drive up tonight for the weekend. :err: lol.....I use to get out of work on a tuesday at 7pm and then drive up fish all day on wed and then drive back just in time to make breakfast for the patients.....I haven't gone up in about 12 years and im a little affraid to what it will do to me. DZ 12-05-2008, 02:41 PM Tynan19, I'm hearing they have been buried up there the last 24 hrs with very heavy lake effect. Call someone up there before you leave. Whitakers - 315-298-6162 I'm not leaving until Sunday morning. DZ Pete F. 12-05-2008, 03:32 PM This place is on Tug Hill http://salmonhills.com/conditions.htm Striperhound 12-05-2008, 07:55 PM today in Pulaski 18-24 new inches of powder tynan19 12-05-2008, 08:51 PM Actually Tony has me convinced to bring the snowmobiles up there and ride in the mornings and fish in the afternoons. Sounds like a great plan. I understand the weather can get brutal up there and knew the conditions so I decided not to make the trip. I do a lot of 6 hr one way trips on weekends in the winter to get to the good snow in Maine so 4 hrs to NY is not that bad of a haul. Roy, that was my plan leave here at 12a fish all day and drive home Sat night. Brutal but better than heroin I think? Striperhound 12-09-2008, 07:23 AM Dennis, how did you do? Man was it cold last few days. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
