View Full Version : Finally a nice Brown on a Tattoo
This fish is from a couple weeks ago. I have really been doing a number on some big browns this fall and was on a mission to get a big brown on a small swimmer. It was pretty cool watching this fish blow up on it like a bass.
Thanks Mike

Nice photo shop Raven...Thanks guys. I probably managed about 30-40 browns over 3-1/2lbs and up to 6-1/2lbs between Oct and Nov this year all on Cape Ponds.....All on top water. It's hard to get one with the big baits and you loose alot, so it was nice to have gotten that one on the swimmer. Some nights were just amazing with the smallies as well. I have been catching trout on top water for over 10 years now, but never really talked about it till now. The older I get the more info I want to make sure I leave behind....not like im 90 or anything, but still.
beaver 12-05-2008, 12:59 PM Nice fish Roy. I thought I was the only one using swimmers for trout. Is that chartreuse? I've had a lot of luck over the years with chart. rapalas.
I wasn't sure if it was a commonly used method, but it works for me.:)
Here's some pics of a smaller Brown I got on a tattoo as well. Even tho I have had a few on I think the females with the smaller heads and mouths get off easyer then these males with there large kypes....It's fun

No it's not common for guys to target trout that way, but during certain times of the year one can do some damages. Not sure what that color was...It's kind of a pearl olive with a little green. Mike painted me up some for smallies, but once the Striper season started.......Living so close to the Canal made it hard to do anything but saltwater for me.....So this was my late atempt at throwing the big swimmers in the salt. The rapalas or broken back rebels are my favorite by far.......Tho I feel like a big old Brown in the double digits would just rather eat some thing bigger if he can.
here's some pics of a few more browns and a nice 4lb+ Tiger all on rapalas
A few more...That female was load with eggs which I kept to use for fishing the rivers for landlocks and Up-state Ny if I make it up there this year. Worked out well since I took a new Pb landlock which weighed in at 7lb 6oz from the still river
CanalGuy 12-05-2008, 06:48 PM Still River? Are you up in my neck of the woods at Wachusett? You can catch nice fish all year round in the Quinny & Still.

Yep the still at the chu. I live in plymouth, but spend a lot of my days durring the year up that way. This year had a pretty good salmon run.

Nice job Roy..
I have a old friend who is gone now used to take big browns at night in the mouth of the Pulaski river. He caught em on his own wood plugs. He was the first I have seen to use epoxy as a top coat. Before Lefty did so..I never got a chance to do it with him..He took that info to his grave..
BTW nice photo's..
Would it kill ya to smile in one..
