View Full Version : Site slow?
nightfighter 12-06-2008, 06:41 PM :bsod: Or is it more of the Vista Bullchit? Thinking of just giving up on Vista and reloading with Windows Office XP....... Any thoughts? I am just so PO'd with Vista and they do nothing to even offer a fix. Or even admit that it has "issues". Consumate greed of Microsoft.:bsod:
RickBomba 12-06-2008, 06:45 PM Hey Ross,
My machine is on Vista and running fine. On the other hand, at my big boy job, our application does not play nice with Vista.
MS has a new OS coming out that I have a feeling they MIGHT extend to Vista owners, almost like when Ford bought back the Edsels.
Just my personal opinion...not rooted in any fact.
Later,
Rick

JohnR 12-06-2008, 07:25 PM Ross - the server is not slow but there seems to be some congestion issues on the various parts of the Internet.
To be safe, I'm thinking of restarting the server anyway.
What is your problem with Vista?

nightfighter 12-06-2008, 07:30 PM Explorer keeps not responding, three restarts, and have set back two days to be sure.
Keep going to other sites to check response and speed... problem only here, boss.

What kind of computer?
How much memory?
How old?
nightfighter 12-06-2008, 07:44 PM Less than two year old Toshiba satellite with at least 3 gigs
and effin' Vista
gone fishin 12-06-2008, 09:12 PM Ross - I have vista in this laptop and XP on my main computer. On the vista unit I haven't had any problems since I got rid of zone alarm firewall. It runs fine and no hangups. Did you run the updates? :wall:Com:devil2:puters are a love hate deal.
nightfighter 12-06-2008, 09:48 PM Don, the updates are run as soon as they come up. Last one, on 12/5 seemed to frig up performance, so I backed up to 12/4. I delete cookies, cache, history, etc on almost a daily basis. And I have Mcafee tweaked up pretty tight. I think XP is in the near future for my peace of mind.....
Site is back to normal from my IP now.
Channell99 12-06-2008, 11:50 PM I have vista and mine is running fine. It might be just your computer but im not to good with computer stuff

I'm still waking up all of the night hours to hit the night tide. I have a problem!!!!!!
jimmy z 12-07-2008, 06:48 AM I'm no whiz, for sure. But I have XP, and I don't use IE, or Firefox anymore. I seem to bounce around very fast with the Chrome browser. Fast and easy, for simple minded folks like me.

I feel your pain - under ordinary conditions I'd be standing on one of my rocks hours ago.
Boy, I'm jonesing bad - and the snow is just starting to accumulate a little down here - :hs:
Oooops - pardon the blatant thread-jacking...
davisd 12-07-2008, 09:15 AM :tooth:OOps I'm sorry too. What was I thinking I wasn't I was thinking about that rock too!!!!
Adam_777 12-07-2008, 09:46 AM I'd try firefox or chrome before reformat and downgrading to the more stable os.
basswipe 12-07-2008, 10:03 AM Firefox is a good suggestion by Adam. Also try running CCleaner,it gets rid of so much more chit than Disk Cleanup.
Plum Crazy 12-07-2008, 01:35 PM It's slow for me too.
I've got nothing but time now so it's okay.
I too am still waking up at 3 AM. Jonesing bad.
To top it off it's freakin' snowing. Grrrrrrrrrr.
I's rather be a bear.
Wake me in spring.
