GOOD LUCK GOODTYIN" saltydog 12-12-2002, 04:18 PM :D Heres the OVAL Head one. "GOOD LUCK GOOD TYIN" fishsmith 12-12-2002, 04:34 PM Great looking flys Salty!! I see you keep the tip of the hook in close proximity of the eye (I was taught to do this too, I think eyes make a big difference). Is there any concern that you might lose hookups because there isn't a lot of space for the hook to sink in, when the fish hits? We just had our holiday lunch so if this makes no sense I'll point my finger at 4beers and a shot of ouzo. Fish_n_Dive 12-12-2002, 09:27 PM Nice flies, what kind of hook is that? saltydog 12-13-2002, 04:08 PM FISHSMITH, to some extent yes, BUT the circule hook is OFFSET so it looks closer in the pic then it realy is. NO real need to SET the hook as long as tention is on the line it should roll into his LIP. the ROUND HEAD works better than the OVAL it is smaller an wider gap. "GOOD LUCK GOOD TYIN" saltydog 12-13-2002, 04:12 PM Fish-N-Dive, the hook is a EAGLE CLAW 4/0 CIRCLE L197 BLK/PEARL LAZER SHARP :smash: "GOOD LUCK GOOD TYIN" Slipknot 12-13-2002, 04:39 PM Nice fly saltydog. is the epoxy head just built up layers of 5 min. epoxy? I like the circle hook, how well do they work? I assume just hold the line with the rod pointed at the fish and they hook themselves in the lip right? saltydog 12-14-2002, 06:02 PM :D SLIPKNOT, as for the epoxie it's (NOT BUILT UP) one mix, usualy by hand till the shape you want, then placed in the TURNER to set-up. that way you have CONTROL of SHAPE of the head,an where you want it to flow. as for hook YES just point an let the fish do the rest. 'GOOD LUCK GOOD TYIN"  Jaiem 12-14-2002, 06:11 PM Nice patterns. One concern: the gap size seems small. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
