Guys, I keep bringing home my eels and they die so I froze them in a block. I don't have the gear or the know-how to rig them. If anyone wants them or knows someone who does. They're in my freezer in an iceblock.
If you're down my way, tell me and you can have them. Just email me @ Stripersonlinerules@hotmail.com. We'll set up a place to meet. None of you freaks are coming to my house. :D They are just taking up room and I would feel too bad just throwing them away. Waste not, want not...

Why are they dying??? You could just throw the block into the woods and when it melts it'll feed the local deer and such.... Not exactly wasting them, right?

If anybody wants, I have some leftover - frozen herring,some cigar butt eels, squid,A little bit of ice cubes,A half a dish of yogurt. Let's see also an old couch,a few scraps of plywood and several other useless items I don't know what to do with but they're here for the taking. :D

Sand_man, that smell is a futuristic glimpse of all of the not-so-fresh diapers I'll have in about a months time after the baby comes along. They will, of couse, be available for no charge if anyone would like them :P ...

Load your block of eels and your bait slingshot onto your Radio Flyer. Haul them down to the closest point to Montauk and launch the whole block as far as you can across LI sound.

I'm sure the exiting schools of bass will appreciate the cold yet tasty snack.

I'm assuming that the block of iced eels isn't large enough to sink any ships.

They aren't so big but they are all black over white.
Since no one wants them, I guess I'll give them the old viking funeral, minus the fire.

I too have been Known to pull a wagon behind me at the canal during herring season. It beats lugging all the stuff.

Patrick you could fish them dead ones on a fish finder rig on the bottom. They eat dead ones too, but so do crabs.

what was the worst bait expirience youve ever had????? HEH HEH....I have one!!! :) Anyone ever forget about that bait cooler filled to the limit with unused squid, sitting in the sun for four days??? PEEEEEEEEEEWWWWW!!!!!! Just to give you a hint...I was reminded of it when I was on the FRONT steps and "smelt" this GOD AWFUL smell! (the cooler was on the BACK steps!!!!) I was so bad...not knowing what to do (tossing them in the woods would only attract undesireable wildlife and there was no way in satans quarters that it would go anywhere near our trash can) well lets put it this way......after I got gas for the car that night...I was gone like a bat outta heck! :)

Worst bait experience ??

Last spring I was fishing a fair amount of live herring. I had a livewell inside the Bronco to keep those little fellows alive long enough to fish 'em. After one very long night/morning fishing herring at the Canal and a nice little spot in Wareham (where I got my first two keepahs of the season 13#s & 22#s) I was like the walking dead when I got home. I pulled the what I thought was empty livewell out of the truck and onto my back yard. That was late morning on Sunday . By thursday, the bride is asking me what that smell was. I dunno... I KNOW it isn't my livewell 'casue I emptied that.

Know, the queasy should look at a different topic at this point. Those that know what I'm about to write may be suffering from mild dry-heaves at this point :-o .

By Thursday night, the three previously unknown herring had spawned a 36x18 pool of maggots 3 inches deep. They were in the aerator, filter, hose, and pump 'assy. I was nearly puking my guts out for the very long time it took to clear that out... Nasty, but you asked Jenn... Now I admit that several day old squid is pretty nasty as is old eels and old herring but that particular time was by far the worst :o

OK while we're on the subject, My friend put some herring in the freezer and I guess did not double ziploc bag them so the ice cream tastes funny his girlfriend says. So he throws those herring out in the woods. A couple days later the dog escapes and proceeds to the rotting fish and rolls around in them (just something dogs do I guess). Can you imagine the stink walking back in the house. He gave me a hard time because it was my fish, but he threw it in the woods . Glad I wasn't there.

You mean it was that foul? A little bleach couldn't cure it.I know you had to still use the thing for your addiction, amazing what we will do.

I have a 55 gal well for my van also but not aerator just a bilge pump that airates it fine plus less foam. It's kind of a hassle but it's a tradition now.Good thing it is at the beginning of the season when we are full of energy.

The nastiest thing I've ever HEARD about is from that surf fishing the Atlantic Coast book by Eric Burnley. I think that's what his name is. He told a story about how this guy had eels in the back of his surf buggy and they all got out. They found everyone of them except for one. Well they found it, but a couple days later. Eric says they had to sell the truck because the eel smell.

Yuck.

Patrick, having lost eels before in cars, I can assure you that several day or week old eels, while EXTREMELY nasty and vile, are no match for a 3" thick berber carpet of fly larvae (this is tough as I'm eating my morning bagel)... Gotta go
