View Full Version : PlugFest 2009 - Categories
ThrowingTimber 12-19-2008, 01:16 PM Ok folks last year a first year builder category was introduced and it went over pretty well. Off the top of my head I rember the following:
Best first year builder
Best representation/restoration of a classic
Most likely to catch a cow on its first cast.
Best of show
Best hand carved
Wall Hanger
Lets use this thread to discuss what you folks want to see again and tell us what wasnt such a great idea etc. Input from everyone would be awesome and welcome!!
johnny ducketts 12-19-2008, 02:17 PM how about, best hand carved
how about least likely to catch a cow on the first cast
and how about best unconventional lure, plugs made from things other than wood..ie a joking category.
The Dad Fisherman 12-19-2008, 02:38 PM Gotta have "Best of Show"
Tagger 12-19-2008, 03:06 PM how about, best hand carved
how about least likely to catch a cow on the first cast
and how about best unconventional lure, plugs made from things other than wood..ie a joking category.
good ideas there ,,, hate seeing a great classic up against an awesome handcarve .. apples and oranges.. Plugs made from things other than wood . That corn cob comes to mind .. least like to catch a cow ,, boobey prize ,
like all those ideas ..
Striperknight 12-19-2008, 09:45 PM I want my own category.;)
thefishingfreak 12-19-2008, 10:28 PM will there be twinkies?
Raven 12-20-2008, 05:56 AM most realistic (to a baitfish)
Flaptail 12-20-2008, 07:32 AM How about we standardize by using last years categories instead of changing each year?
It's getting absurd that each year we delete and add. let's go with last years. It worked and that way everyone can just get started doing thier thing for whatever category(s) they plan to enter.
Flaptail 12-20-2008, 07:33 AM I would make handcarved it's own though on second thought.
Slipknot 12-20-2008, 09:47 AM what were last years categories?
ThrowingTimber 12-20-2008, 11:22 AM I updated the categories on the intial post to be what I can remember from last year. Good suggestions everyone keep them coming I agree with Flap that we should standardize the categories with the addition of hand carved in its own category.
Dad 818 12-21-2008, 12:29 PM I agree about keeping the categories the same. Not that I'll be winning anything, but at least builders can work on something specific if they know that the categories will be the same year after year.
Also agree on the handcarve category

Mr. Sandman 01-29-2009, 07:04 AM How do you enter a plug?
ProfessorM 01-29-2009, 09:27 AM bring with you , put in a plain brown paper bag, select category you want to enter, hand to someone running the show.
Dad 818 01-29-2009, 10:04 AM Timber, IIRC there was a "novelty" category last year.
MR SANDMAN: in addition to what Professor M posted above, be sure you don't sign the plug you entered for the contest either.
Mr. Sandman 01-29-2009, 10:47 AM I heard the winner gets a 2009 Esclade....do you get the pick the color?:jester:
