or bastard/rainbow/sabre as Striperman calls them ;)
If you get a chance to try one of 9' sticks by all means do so. I just got mine last week which was wrapped beautifully by a friend and I tried it out and I feel it is everything that people have told me about it and more. If you want a great beach stick to toss everything from bombers to live eels to Mr. Wigglys or custom plugs to 3 oz or so, then buy one because you can't go wrong. Capesams reccomended the rod to me and I am glad I tried it, I can't wait to catch fish on it next season. Tony Stetzko tried one as well and he wants 3 more. It seems to have plenty of backbone and is not some wispy wimpy rod, it casts great. I got excellant results with 15lb mono with a bomber, and got 20 yds further with a Yo-mag darter. A 2.3 oz needle of mine w/ no hooks on it went well over 75 yds. I think this rod will compliment my 1088 that I use to use for a variety of plugs for bombers to pikies, very well. I will be able to toss small pikies with it.
Batson has a good thing going with these rod blanks and I believe this rod will someday outsell the lami 108-1L. Try it out , you'll like it.

Hey Slip, A couple of questions for ya.
1. Is the nine footer a 1 or 2 pc blank?
2. Who sells them?

Thanks,
Bernzy

Thanks Slip, I guess I was hoping it was a two piece. Much easier for me to lug back east for my surf fishing fix.

Maybe you or someone else can recommend a comparable blank that is a 2 pc.

But it is a nice rod...

How does it match up with the mitch. 7500, or is this a bit heavy

milo think 6500 size . The 7500 is too heavy for a 1087 . Only in my opinion ! Ive been eyeballing that rod since the day we had the get together at cape cod tackle . I gots to find some money . Anyone have any extra ?
