Getting the word out a little early but I'm figuring that some point in February -possibly around Presidents Day weekend- we'll have the Reel Maintenace Party at my house in Rhody.

Last year we had that party at Slip's too but I want to see if we can spare him from emptying the cookie jar early again this year :eek5: , even though his wife was a very nice host (Slip - that wasa nice plug in case she's leaning over your shoulder ;) ). It was pretty stinking good for all those that attended.

I figure we'll have it in my basement so we do need to limit to about a dozen or so people.

We will need a couple fold up tables and perhaps a few people familiar with various reels.

Also bring stuff that you might want to change out like the Smoothies for the ABUs, some mild solvents, old tooth brush, yadayadayada...

So holler if you want to sign up - already 8-10 people have expressed interest but there are some probables that may need to bail:

Smokey and I would probably attend depending on exact date. As those at the party at Slip's can attest to , I can pull apart every screw , spring , clip etc on ambassaduer reels and more importantly , put them back together! :) Not much help on other reels though. i used to pull Penn SS reels apart but its been a long time now so don't count on me for that except in a pinch..

GB - one or two should be more than enough, not that big of a basement... :D

Saltheart - looking forward to seeing you guys if you can make it, remember how to get here, eh?

I can turn "probable" into "definate" once the date is set....

And as I said before, will lend a hand ith any Baitrunners and some other spinning reels......

JohnR

:eek5: OK, as usual, the dozen turned into 18, some of which are probable, (hope my wife doesn't see this thread  :liquify: ). So I'm gonna cut this off now...

If anything else opens up, I'll holler. I'll also get directions out to those that are going when we get near. I do think that the Saturday of President's Weekend will be good :kewl:

I'd like to join the crowd, if you are tight on space I could probably get us the use of Charlestown's Cross Mills Fire Dept, banquet hall for free. It's a nice big area with plenty of tables and cheers, even has a large kitchen area.....

OK, I'm really goint to keep it at my house but I'll sneak 179 & Don B in too. I figure we might have one or two not make it :rollem: but this will be enough. And too much more, regardless of where probably wouldn't work anyway... So same thing, the Saturday of President's day weekend ( I think it's Feb 22nd) at my house, say 10 am... Remember - we just tell my wife that all of us are a dozen or so... :D

I'm glad this got bumped because I need to change the date. My wife's new job has her working Saturdays and I have my son to watch every Saturday now so in order for ths to go smoothly, I'll need to switch the date to Sunday February 23rd. Otherwise same times (say 10-10:30 am) & location (my house). Does that still work for everyone?

Thanks,

John

Would early afternoon be an option?... say 1:00 pm or is that too late?...

Otherwise, I'll make 10:00-10:30 am fit!...

JohnR

1pm is OK but that might not give you enough time to deep O/Haul a reel :)

I think 1 PM is too late. If anything , I'd rather see it earlier , like 8:30 AM , not later.

I think 1 PM is too late. If anything , I'd rather see it earlier , like 8:30 AM , not later. Oh - we're still starting earlier, it's just that he's gonna be late :D ... 10 am is really about the earliest I can safely do as of the Sunday morning rituals with my son (we'll need to be a bit quieter around his early afternoon nap time). Also with things being on Sunday it might work out a little for those that go to church..

If we're REALLY good, maybe we can hit Hooters after for some wings and Fishtalk :D
