View Full Version : Challenge/Contest
BigFish 01-01-2009, 07:32 PM Thought this might be a fun idea! All interested in participating make it known here! Here is the idea and let me know what you think?? I thought it might be fun if we took a bunch of names (the folks who want to participate) and put them in a hat. Then we will draw the names and each person will get one of the names of the other participants. The task of the challenge will be that the name you have received gets to give you a challenge to build what ever plug they want and you must build that very plug to the best of your ability!:tooth: At the end of the challenge when all plugs are finished......the person who challenged you will receive that plug!:bounce: So everyone receives a plug?? I thought it might be fun to try and have them done by PlugFest 09' and put them on display at the event??? Any thoughts???
Post in if you are in! I will put the rules in place...they will be simple.
ProfessorM 01-01-2009, 07:39 PM I like it. One plug is much better than a mega swap. I'm in

Tagger 01-02-2009, 09:03 AM great idea Larry .. I'm in ..
Bay Stalker 01-02-2009, 09:49 AM I 'm in...
The only thing is I cannot make plugfeast do to a prior engagement. I can send it to Professor, Tagger, slipnot or Charleston to bring up if that is ok with you and them?
Diggin Jiggin 01-02-2009, 10:27 AM I'm in. But... I am a little nervous about someone asking for a plug style I don't make. Where its only a single plug, building a new style means all new prototypes, swim testing etc, and its tough to get some styles right without putting in a lot of time.
Canalman 01-02-2009, 01:20 PM Yup, count me in :devil2:
stripercrazy 01-02-2009, 03:52 PM I'm in please don't be a darter:laugha:
Pete F. 01-02-2009, 04:33 PM I'm in, but I no longer have access to the indoor testing facility and when I went by my outdoor one this am it looked quite hard

That would be my concern. May be a way to do this would be that the person asking would suggest a type of bait and the plug maker could then pick something that they have made that would best replicate that bait. Sooo, someone might suggest a builder make a bunker or a herring. The builder could then do up a pikie, or a surfster, or (in stripercrazy's case) a darter :buds: Just a thought.

ThrowingTimber 01-02-2009, 05:44 PM I'll play :buds:
Backbeach Jake 01-02-2009, 05:46 PM :wall:I'm in please don't be a darter:laugha:
Me, too! And what Ed said.
ProfessorM 01-02-2009, 06:24 PM I don't think you would want a darter from me either
BigFish 01-02-2009, 07:18 PM As discussed....we can talk it over with each other after the names are picked! This is great! Nice to see all who have chimed in to participate! This is going to be fun and you do not have to attend PlugFest to participate! PlugFest is just a great place to show the finished plugs! Keep the names coming and I will post a new thread this weekend with all the names and the details!:claps:
the greek 01-02-2009, 07:27 PM I'm in. This should be fun.
Canalman 01-02-2009, 09:15 PM I don't think you would want a darter from me either
If anyone can make a perfect Darter it's you Paul. You'll have those slopes down to a thousandth of an inch. :laughs:
angler229 01-02-2009, 10:28 PM I'm in. Though I do have the same concerns as others about being able to do enough testing/protos for one plug, particularly if the plug selected is something I'm not familiar with.

It's pretty simple, just make a plug you are comfortable making and have experience with. No stress, just a challenge to do the best job you can do. I think that is what bigfish had in mind.
The way I figured it was, that whoever gets me to build their plug of choice, they will ask for something I am able to do like a pikie, needle, pencil, spook or something like that.
outnumbered 01-02-2009, 11:10 PM I'll join in the fun also.
BigFish 01-02-2009, 11:25 PM Slipknot has the right idea!:jump:

I agree with that. Let people make what they are comfortable making. Sounds like fun!
