fishaholic18 01-04-2009, 08:25 AM I've been in Florida for the holidays and got a chance to hunt wild Boar pretty much every morning. They are infested with them here and land owners welcome hunters to thin them out. We saw many and killed a few. I was suprised how tough it was to take these animals down with a 30-06. This one was 160# field dressed and I shot it at over 100 yards. We shot others that were as close as 25 yds and running towards us. What a rush. I also got to experiance Hog hunting with dogs....Man is that crazy....

Mr. Krinkle 01-04-2009, 06:44 PM Nice shot!

When I was stationed in Guam, I used to get chased by them when I used to run near the wooded areas around the base I lived on. Those bastards are fast and have some nasty tusks!
fishaholic18 01-10-2009, 07:47 AM I also got to experience hog hunting with dogs...No guns...All I can say is...vicious......:btu:
They send out 2 dogs to track and corner the hog, then they let the "kill" dog (pit) loose and he pins the hog...Then you can tie their legs and toss them in a cage..alive..pretty crazy..
Squid kids Dad 01-10-2009, 03:16 PM I'm in..:laughs:

Lower 01-11-2009, 07:41 PM Nicely done. Nice shot too. I was down in Texas a couple of years ago with my bro-in-law. We had the oppurtunity to hunt for them as well. First thing I learned, hit behind the ear.

Your right too...The #'s of pigs are getting way out of control and the land owners are getting frustrated. We ended up getting a couple. Packaged and shipped a bunch of meat home. Was it good.

planter 01-23-2009, 08:28 PM Nothing more fun than pig hunting. As much as I like bowhunting deer, I can sit an awful long time in a cold tree before I see one never mind kill it.

I have an invite to pig hunt for Nada within an hour of Disney. The guy says if I want the dogs will grab the boar and I can use a knife to finish it off. I think I'm gonna pass on that one...

People think FLA is all Disney but it's a big state with lots of swamp and woods. It's like the number 3 or 4 cattle producing state.
