How about something a little more local for those of us up this way? Open to suggestions. I'd like to see some rod building and maybe even some tuna rigging. Why not combine a couple different things? Big. Small. Monthly, doesn't matter. Just could use something local to get through the shack nasty winter.

Then where and what?

I am up for a gathering. I am traveling in mid-February but any other dates would work.

My GF is having an "adult toy " party gathering at our house on Friday the 23rd of January. She has asked me to be "absent" from the house but I have few options. So that night would work well for me- OR- we could all gather at my house that same night. Can you picture it? 10-12 guys in my man-cave drinking beer : and talking about plugs and fishing whilst 10-12 girls just above us upstairs drinking wine-coolers and talking about sex and vibrators. :chatter

I'd be interested too. I'd like to meet more of you face to face. Let's hope spring comes soon by making the winter pass by. I've resorted to playing the Rapala's Fishing Frenzy game on my son's wii. They even have stripers to catch. It's more fun than you think.

Let's get our heads around a couple things...

What do we want to do? Just get together and BS? Rods? Plugs? Tuna gear? A swap?

What are the dates for other events/shows? Nothing on the site calendar... don't want conflicts.
TFCTFN Feb 28
Plugfest Feb 21
Plum Island Feb 21
MSBA March 7-8

Lastly, while this is a thread I started, I am not in a position to be the chief on this, so jump in!

Can you dudes do Feb 7?
my vote for activities is to just sit around and BS, but guys should bring anything they want to show off, like plugs, rods, kayaks, boats, etc.

Feb 7th is good for me. BS with a bit of show and tell/trade is all good as well. Let's pick a location. Is the hooters in Saugus central to all?

TFCTFN is the 28th.

Settle on what you are going to do and I'll try to make the road trip (if you'll have me :hee: )....

How big is the Man Cave? Might be good for some reel maintenance too?

spinncognito

My mancave is just a workbench area in my basement- not adequate for a group- however, my house in Gloucester is big enough for a gathering-
Let me propose this- Feb 7th, 2PM-7PM
We could eat, drink and BS the day away. :buds:

I was personally hoping for a more informative/hands on learning event, not that a BS session at Hooters is a bad thing. Anyone want to do a clinic on reel cleaning? I doubt they would let us set that up at Hooters.... any thoughts?

I hope to be at PISC event Feb 21st for an all day BS session...

Just a suggestion - maybe contact Martha at Surfland and ask if she would be
interested in running a clinic. She does one for the PI Surfcasters and
just might do one if we can gather enough solid participants. If there was
enough interest, the hall where the meetings are held may be available.
COST ??? always a problem loosening wallets. Anyone on the site have a big
enough area to accommodate a bunch of liars in one place?

Catch you later Ross........

Don

Thanks Don. Good idea re. Martha.
I might put in a call to Mark Ryan this week at Ryan Marine here in Marblehead. His shop has worked out extremely well for the Maddie's group meetings. We just have to dangle some sort of carrot, be it a small usage fee, or whatever..... Anyone know Nat or Derek at First Light Anglers? They put on a great tuna presentation.

The State House??? (Sorry, couldn't resist)

I know PISC is doing a How-To night for february that is all about reel maintainence and such.

I want to say Fireman's hall runs us about $100 for a meeting there, But I can check at the next meeting for the price.
