Ok, I'm driving along route 140 tonight and all of a sudden I see a deer on the side of the road. It gets me to thinking...:smokin:

This is a question for all you "Hunters" and road kill groupies :D...or anyone else who has the guts to tell it straight or make sometin funky up...

You head out to your tree stand one morning...your driving along the road listening to Iron Maiden...getting you in that predator mode :laughs:..(no one else around)...All of sudden a Monster Buck comes out across the road and you hit em'. I'm talking a 12 pointer here!!!...whatever that means ...heeh hee he
You exit the vehicle and find it laying there. It doesn't appear injured..but obviously it is. There are no "HIT" marks visible. Of course you shoot it, but what story would you tell???...

Do you mount it?

What would you do??

Technically the deer is still alive after you hit it, no?

Then you shoot it to put it out of it's misery, yes?

You did a decent thing, no?

You should get credit for this , yes?

If your name is Clinton you say I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT DEER! Sorry wrong story but I would tell the story as it was. I got a nice 8 point this year because one of my customers called to tell me he had a big buck hanging around his front yard. I go down and sure as -hit there is a nice 8 point there wanting to become my next meal. Lots more to it than that but I will share that with you some other time. Also Sat. afternoon last week I shoot at a running cyote miss and fig its time to go home. I get down from my stand and walk out into my fields and as I walk along a nice 6 point comes out of the woods and starts to walk out into the feild about 200 yrads away. As I get closer he stops and stands there lets me get to about 100 yards away. So I put the gun to my shoulder and click no shells in the gun:smash: I had taken them out as I got down from my stand. So the deer looks at me after the noise then goes back to walking along with me. I put a shell in the chamber put the gun up again and this time he stops and droped in his tracks. Now I could make up all kinds of great hunting stories about these two shots but I think it was great just the way it was.

First I would never deliberately hit a deer no mater how my hunting season went.regardless of how big it was or it's rack is.
But if I did hit one and it had run off I would try to track it and make sure it was not suffering.

The truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth!! I had been stalking all morning long when I seen this awsome buck at 100 yrds out so I decided to belly crawled 50 yrds through thickets and finally I crept another 15 yrds in waste deep swamp until I had a 35 yrds shot. Just as I drew my bow he raised his head and spotted me so I held at full draw for atleast 10 minutes, maybe more. Finally he bolted through the woods and I was forced to shoot him running, Yup, heart shot! Average hunt I guess!! And that big dent in the truck, well......hit n run. Yes he's goin on the wall!

Now bloo, what would you do if ya found this 60# linesider...... what ever that means...hee hee stuck in a pool of a jetty?? What story would ya tell? Since its my story this time, the bass had just expired so ya can't be released. Would you mount it?

I'd end its suffering as quickly and humanely as possible.

Bullet in the head sounds fine to me, slit the throad to bleed it.

Then I'd call the cops.

Here in SW CT, we have quite a bit of roadkill deer. Usually, a DEP guy will come around, examine the deer, and even if it's out of hunting season, he'll tag it for anyone who wants to take it home.

This way, not much roadkill deer goes to waste!

I wouldn't - couldn't -shouldn't. Eveytime I looked at it, I'd feel like OJ looking at a picture of his EX!!! ;)

GUILTY!!!

What would I do?

60# Striper stuck in a pool, ready for death??? I'd probably call Woods Hole and ask them if they were interested in it, after a few pictures of course ;) (Hey, momma only raised one fool, and he's married already!!)....I hope he doesn't browse these forums.. I'd get pictures only because of the unusual size. I wouldn't even feel safe eating something like that. Could be ill or someting. If Woods' didn't want her, back to the ocean she goes. I'm pretty sure my crab cousins would find a nice home for her. :D

Now as far as the Big Buck goes....

I'd call Goose!!!! :D:D:D:happy:
