Never air bushed anything before. Thinking of getting one. Can you use a shop compressor or must you get a air brush compressor?

Shop compressor is fine. IMO you want one with tank at least 15 gallons so it can crank up and you can shut it off. Plenty of air to paint many plugs till it runs out. The problem with the little pancake jobs is they cycle lots and the noise is not fun. I went with a sears, oil filled. Get a 50' length of hose too as it will help in keeping the pressure constant and you can put it a distance away, and of course a water trap, although I have one and have never seen a drop of moisture in it. Have fun.

If you want someting smaller the Makita MAC700 is quiet. Its oil filled and it will cycle on quite a bit, but it won't blow your ear drums out.
