Crafty Angler 01-19-2009, 05:47 PM Levon Helm played Newport this summer at the Folk Festival - yeah, I know, I already posted this... I had to work - but just so happens that work is about 1/4 of a mile from the stage and on a strong SW wind it was like being in the press box - he was awesome, and the back-up band was tight What a talent pool in The Band - Danko, Robbie Robertson, Levon and...and... Hey would one of you guys who had less fun than I did in the 60's come up with the last name here... afterhours 01-19-2009, 05:49 PM garth hudson and richard manuel... Crafty Angler 01-19-2009, 05:54 PM Thanks, Don...:spin: I woulda come up with that myself after awhile - just too proud to Google it...:laughs: Here's Levon with his band, taped live a few weeks after Newport, almost 40 years after the album version Paul posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nx9LQNvZ3w8 Canalman 01-25-2009, 11:14 PM I have always been a fan of "It Makes No Difference" and "Olphelia" ProfessorM 07-03-2009, 03:44 PM Listening to them lately, again. Great tune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X6W6-yawyI mosholu 07-08-2009, 04:52 PM Levon's new album Electric Dirt is terrific with a lot of his funky drumming. There is a great version of the Dead's Tennessee Jed. Stands up with any Early Band record. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
