Many of you have come to Newport to our various seminars to learn from some of the experts in our sport like McKenna, Abrames, Zambrotta, Mueller and Hromin. I wanted to point out that this event is different because we are going to host it in Providence at Save the Bay headquarters.

I know it is difficult to get to some of our events on the island during the week and many of us have weekends full of indoor soccer and errands. So my guess is spending a Thursday evening in the depth of winter with a view of the bay, learning all you can from a world renowned flats fisherman, participating in a raffle with great prizes and doing it with a group of friends should be a good time. And a great way to get your mind off when the bass will return! The event is free and there will be appetizers and a cash bar. Please support this program by purchasing Conservation Raffle tickets.

Here are the details:

Saltwater Edge Winter Seminar Series and Conservation Raffle

Save the Bay Headquarters
Providence, Rhode Island

Whether you are an experienced bonefisherman, or are planning to go soon or dream of going someday… why not spend a cold winter’s night a world away wading a Bahamian flat at the elbow of an expert?

Please join The Saltwater Edge for another event in the Winter Seminar Series featuring #^&#^&#^&#^& Brown, one of the country’s premier authorities on bonefishing. #^&#^&#^&#^& is the author of Fly Fishing for Bonefish and Bonefish Fly Patterns, published by Lyons Press. Today, the two books—which have gone through many printings—are essential reading for both novice and experienced flats fisherman.

Also on the 29th we will hold a Saltwater Edge Conservation Raffle with gear, gift certificates and other prizes. By this method we have raised over $23,000 for various conservation initiatives over the last eight years. Proceeds from the Conservation Raffle at this event will go to Save the Bay and their efforts to restore the fish runs that river herring, american shad and other species depend on for survival.

Save the Bay’s new headquarters is located on Narragansett Bay, at 100 Save the Bay Drive in Providence, RI. Appetizers and a cash bar will be provided. Event starts at 6:30pm, program begins at 7:15pm.

#^&#^&#^&#^& Brown - A fly fisherman since he was a teen, #^&#^&#^&#^& has stalked bonefish, permit, tarpon, snook, and other tropical saltwater species for over 30 years in the Bahamas, Caribbean, South America, and Florida Keys. He has fished extensively for Atlantic salmon in Canada’s maritime provinces and for trout and steelhead in the American West and Northwest. #^&#^&#^&#^& lives on the north shore of Massachusetts where he chases striped bass, bluefish, and other inshore species in his Jones Brothers center console, About Time.

#^&#^&#^&#^& is an executive board member of the New England Saltwater Fly Rodders and a member of the International Game Fish Association, United Fly Tyers, Trout Unlimited, the Margaree Salmon Association, and Stripers Forever. He spent much of his business career in the computer industry, running worldwide marketing and communications for a Fortune 500 computer firm and as CEO and founder of Brown Wright & Company—a high tech marketing company.

Please join us on the 29th at Save the Bay in Providence!
