First I'd like to thank everyone who helped me get this together.
This is what the display case will look like when finished. My wife even said I could put it up in the living room.

:bgi:I'm going to rig the alarm from my gun safe to it.
nightfighter 01-24-2009, 05:54 PM Mac, you got what you need? PM me with what you are still missing, and I'll look to see or PM you back what I have new.
But let's see some more shots of the case. I need some inspiration for something I'm gonna build for the raffle at TFCTFN. ( and maybe some small ones to swap for plugs.....)

Uhmmm..... That is just the top. I'm going to start the rest of the case Monday. Wife wants to go skiing tomorrow:err:
I'm going run a piano hinge with quadrant hinges on the top corners.
The bottom edge will have 2 small hasps with padlocks. (got to keep my wife out of there. :D
a few weeks from now... mac comes home from a long day of hoing his own plugs. the display case is smashed, the alarm is going off. a red truck is seen fleeing the area. (the fat dog is too slow to catch me)

Slipknot 01-25-2009, 08:46 PM Well that's a real good start if that is only half Mac, how was the skiing?
animal 01-25-2009, 09:22 PM Sweet,Mac!
Well that's a real good start if that is only half Mac, how was the skiing?
Skiing was ok. We made 4 or 5 runs. (stayed on the greens as my wife doesn't have toe confidence to ski anything steeper) Then we went inside to get a cup of hot chocolate. On the way back out to ski some more Mary says to me "my boot broke". I turned around expecting to see a popped buckle, but nope. The whole toe of her boot broke off. She said it just popped off.
Mary was disappointed that we couldn't ski anymore. I was thankful that the boot didn't fall apart when she was skiing. If that had happened while we were coming down the hill she probably would have gotten hurt.
Raven 01-26-2009, 06:30 AM she noticed it... wow
having a fractured or broken ankle at this time of year is NO picnic
Big Water 01-26-2009, 06:54 AM Hey Mac, that is going to be beautiful!! I coming in a little late on this where did all the plugs come from? Gary
Crafty Angler 01-26-2009, 08:18 AM Glad to hear Mary didn't get hurt on that one - pretty freaky -
I think it was God's way of telling you to get right home and finish another display case...:hihi:

Some I bought, some I traded for and some were given to me.
Thanks again to all who helped me out.

The Iceman 6 01-26-2009, 04:33 PM Great work MAC, gold star award.
Pete F. 01-26-2009, 05:29 PM Nice
Another nice display case that I have done in the past is a glass top coffee table, little higher than normal and about thirty inches square. 1/4" glass and have the edges polished, they come out pretty nice.
Big Water 01-26-2009, 05:37 PM Before I started building I got one of your Giant Pikies. The finish and the painting were unlike anything I had seen to that point. That plug inspired me to make a quality plug. I love that plug, but if you have room in your case I would gladly send it along. You were such a tremendous help when I started making plugs. That afternoon in your shop when you took me through the whole plug making process, from blank to finish sanded. There were things I learned there that I have never seen since. The plug I am talking about is 8 1/2 inches long, metallic green back, metallic silver around the eyes and belly, red blush, brass belly grommets. It's a beauty. Gary:wave:
an original unsigned pikie with the template from which it was made
It will be at Mikes for you
