You trading any of those darters:wave: GattaFish 01-24-2009, 05:45 PM Wow,,,,,, I really like those darters,,,,,, afterhours 01-24-2009, 05:47 PM sweet darters! Diggin Jiggin 01-24-2009, 06:05 PM George your stuff looks perfect as always. Can you give us some details on the darters? How much do they weigh and how big are they. I'm just finishing some up for my light rod but I want to make some in the 3.5-4 oz range for a heavier rod I am working on for next year... Are those still the hard maple you were working with or did you switch to something else? angler229 01-24-2009, 06:05 PM Very nice. I think you've inspired me to turn a couple surfsters tomorrow. Tagger 01-24-2009, 06:10 PM Nice ,,, That clowdy sky darter is pissa ,, smac 01-24-2009, 06:11 PM Awesome ! numbskull 01-24-2009, 06:44 PM Can you give us some details on the darters? Are those still the hard maple you were working with or did you switch to something else? They are just Pichney/Lupo/BM copies. I've done well on the BM originals over the years. 7"long, 1.25" dia, 3.3-3.5 oz. Most are soft maple saturated in sealer, I've got some hard maple as well that I think will weigh 3.7oz. The original BMs are around 3.5 oz, the Pichney and Lupo's closer to 3. I think you want your sealed blank to weigh about 2.7.....though of course I didn't figure that out until way late. Biteme 01-24-2009, 07:14 PM WOW, very nice. eastendlu 01-24-2009, 07:43 PM Nice ,,, That clowdy sky darter is pissa ,, Ditto.. Dad 818 01-24-2009, 10:11 PM Nice as always George. luds 01-25-2009, 12:03 AM classic......sweet stripercrazy 01-25-2009, 08:42 AM those are great:wavey::ss: pbadad 01-25-2009, 08:49 AM Great job George. The darter is the most rewarding design when you get it right. So many variables to consider in order to duplicate the same results when making multiple darters. I've dabbled with darters over a few years. Never made a jig, mostly freehand design copies. Luckily they all swam pretty good. Would I be to bold to ask for a recommendation on building a jig for a particular design? Your plugs and asvise over the past years have always inspired me to keep the sawdust flying! numbskull 01-25-2009, 10:14 AM This thread has some pictures that show how I do it, and some discussion on other ways. http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripertalk/showthread.php?t=54143 fumifish 01-25-2009, 10:40 AM great job on those plugs! fishaholic18 01-25-2009, 12:54 PM Sweet Gunpowder 01-25-2009, 01:31 PM ditto again on the cloud blue darter... thing is HOT Rockfish9 01-25-2009, 08:49 PM absolutly beautifull work, but i would expect nothing less from you... those darters are most pissa! islander 01-26-2009, 08:17 AM Great stuff George, that green and blue combo looks like it will do some damage. Tagger 01-26-2009, 08:55 AM George .. I'm very interrested how those soft maple darters work .. I don't know if you tested them yet . I've only worked with soft maple once, and that was a board that sat in a barn 40 yrs.. I'd much prefer working with that compared to hard (brittle) maple . Seems like you got them dialed in with the sealer added weight too .. The Dad Fisherman 01-26-2009, 09:03 AM Those are awesoma....as always. The darters are sick JFigliuolo 01-26-2009, 10:20 AM George .. I'm very interrested how those soft maple darters work .. I don't know if you tested them yet . GOOD LUCK GOOD PLUGGIN:btu: NIB 02-02-2009, 08:44 AM This years model..Very Nice stuff as usual.Them troublemakers type surfsters became a plug in much demand once he stopped making them. Thats a lot of hooks on them darters..I think if you follow the Musso shape the weight takes care oif itself. They are smaller than the BM's.Closer to the old GIBBS I am taking note of the hook placement.Did you add lead to the belly, there iws none in the musso's but they put it in the gibbs..Can I have the yellow one.I'm to lazy to make my own.. I would rather have one of them slimmed down musso type danny things..You making any of those this year.. ProfessorM 02-02-2009, 11:31 AM .Can I have the yellow one.I'm to lazy to make my own.. .
