Bench grinder and finished off with fine carborundum sandpeper by hand. Gotta get the burrs off or they'll cut the thread.

Dremel Tool here as I haven't (yet) had too much need for a grinder yet (yet)

bench grinder is the fastest and easiest method. a flat file used after to remove sharp edges and smoothe them over.

then after you r finished grinding & sanding your feet, take a black per. marker an color the raw metal. by doing this the shine from the raw guide foot won't come through the threads.

I use a sharpie laundry marker for what capesam described. Also thought I'd mention that a lot of people swear by belt grinders for doing guide feet.

 Question - Why aren't the feet ready to go on right from the factory? what is the grinding for?

I'ld think grinding foots would be time consuming. Having a guide foot that has been grinded will allow for your thread to go on evenly. A good exampel is to look at a 50 ring guide. You notice the foot on a 50 is a little thicker and requires more grinding to get that nice even taper. Smaller guides have less grinding but ya gotta go a little slower so ya don't grind your nuckels off(like me) lol

You're right slip , they should be ground when you buy them. But they aren't so you have to do your own.
